Yet you see the history that Muslims had on music and art leaving a permanent imprint in the world.

Go read a book inadeer. Stop conflating wahhabism with Islam. :susp:

Islamic art and music*******

I'm aware of it, the geometric shapes are very beautiful. It really shines when used in architecture and mosaic art but my point still stands :hmm: there's no evolution of style or growth, it's stays static and stagnant because there's a limit on what you're able to express

I won't comment on music, nasheeds don't appeal to me personally :hmm:

This is one issue i simply cannot understand how people veer off to the extreme. One side of the spectrum we have folks who believe that islam has basically eroded their culture and we are just some nameless nation and people with no daqan and we are all doomed.

Then we have other folks on the otherside who think we should basically become and follow the culture of other set of people in this case arabs. I mean how extreme. Religion and culture are not competing for a vaccum. You do not have to pick one over the other. There is a reason why Allah has created people into tribes, nations and races. If we all were a monolithic race then life would be pretty drab.. Somalis have been muslims for centuries and yet we still have our daqan. We still have our customs our langauge and our way of life. Religion does not have to erase anything. What makes you a muslim has no bearing on you. Having said that religion does play it's part in eradicating customs as well.

Take for example the pagan arab tradition of burying daughters. Islam came in and erased that. Arabs were heavy drinkers. Islam also erased that. So when it comes to unislamic practices then religion will inevitably clash with it. For example FGM. Somalis always rail about the wahabi bogey man and yet saudis do not practise such practices due to religion and madhab alone.

In the end religion and culture do not have to be opposite to each other. They can co-exist provided the culture practice in question is not haram per se. Somalis really need to undersand that you can be both. Be proud of your ethnicity, culture and race and be a muslim as well.

Aw shit I forgot rumi :hmm: but I wasn't really referencing literature or poetry now was I? Of course you guys are gonna excell at that because it's one of the few forms of expressions that haven't been b&ed

Anyone notice how Islam stunts creative growth? You can't listen/make to music unless it's instrumental, you can't depict a living creature because otherwise you're competing with God :mjkkk:

Is why the muslamic world never produced any Remembrandts, Monets or Michelangelos. Also the reason why mooslem have underdeveloped frontal and parietal association regions :mjkkk:
If a Chinese person told you Westerners are stupid because they never produced any Fan Kuans, Lee Chings or Gu Kaizhis, how would you react?

You'd ask "who?"
Then you mention Rembrandt, Michaelangelo and Monet,

and they would respond with "who?"

You don't know, you just assume that what you were thought in school is everything, forgetting that it's mostly western stuff. You also assume all cultures to be identical in their makeup, but theyre really not.

You're acting in the typical European fashion of doing something, declaring that something the universal standard then using it to impose your "superiority"

It's like an Ethiopian calling others inferior because they don't have raw meat like Ethiopians do. And either way, art is subjective. You may like European art more, but that doesn't mean other kinds are bad if they don't emulate the European ones.

It's ironic and funny because these same europeans themselves sing the praises of people like ibn sina and al khawarizmi. There is an entire wiki page on muslim scientists

Here's ronald reagan talking about ibn khaldun

We did have the Islamic Golden Age where arts, poetry and sciences were flourishing. Early Muslims created the concepts of algebra and astronomy that is the foundation for what we know today. Plus many famous poets in Persia were Muslim. It suddenly all stopped for some reason, but it doesn't mean it was never there. Don't believe what cadaan people tell you about Muslims never contributing anything to the world.

Forget about nasheeds what about the Andalusian lute and how you had to master seven different styles of playing the guitar, each style having an impact on the emotions of those listening. They even had clinics in cordoba where a musician who's a Muslim would play uplifting scales to clear the mind of a patient going through trauma.

Music isn't even haram, it's a issue of difference of opinion, only when the petrodollar Empire of Saudi Arabia came to power did they revive these differences to say there's only one interpretation.

Actually it wasn't without a reason the main reason that ended the Islamic golden age was the Mongol invasion and the sack of Baghdad

Also not to mention that many instruments are originally Arab from the guitar to the violin all of them were influenced by Islamic instruments

Michael Angelo, are you kidding me?

Muslims produced art the likes that the world has never seen.

That why the MOST popular tourist destination in Europe specifically Spain is Al Hambra, the best that Europe has to offer, is MUSLAMIC art:

Michale Angelo, kulahaa

That was the biggest disaster to hit the muslim lands. Until then muslims were so far advanced over europeans it was not even a joke.

If it wasn't for baibars it would have been worse. Can you imagine mongols marching into the hejaz. *shudders*
