Somali model says she isn’t a nationalist and puts Islam above everything.

Naturally it shouldn’t be a surprise that a woman who was part of the the My ummah group marrying foreign reverts would say this . But I think this ties with the other threads about Mohammed hijab and those like him that always attack Somali people. Why do some Somalis put their religious identity over their ethnicity. I don’t see other ethnicities doing this on a mass scale .

As muslim we are all ummah of nabi muhammad peace upon him. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be proud of our lineage and we are ancestors hailed from, even our hooyos if they heard this shit would karbash this xalimo and her anti nationalism.

this reminds me of when half the Palestinian society was made of Somalis at my uni .

It's naive to believe that your religious identity abdicates your ethnicity/nationality. Particularly, considering Muslims do not collectively act as one body/ummah. It's difficult to put into practice what currently does not exist in anything other than rhetoric/platitudes.

I will put Islam above my ethnicity always and for as long as I live.

i however don't condone Deen merchants who selectively choose between who's worthy and who isn't worthy of takfeer based on their ethnicity i.e Ali Dawa and Mohammed Hijab.

As for her border talk for me

When she said I don’t celebrate national day that’s when I lost her.

That’s independence from the gaalo she clearly should hate to have the Somali people colonised by

As Muslims you supposed to put your deen above everything. So I am Muslim first. But we can be more than one thing and care for more than one thing.

Lol there is nothing called ummah. Your Muslim brother will backstab you if it means geopolitical, economic and strategic gain. Every country is looking after its interests.:pacspit:

Some of these people have been indoctrinated pretty bad. One of the reason why religion is BS people don't go and look for their religion majority are coherced into believing in it whether they like it or not that's the truth

Personally, I think nationalism is stupid. It’s qabiilism in a different shirt.

There’s nothing special about Somalia or the US or China or Romania. What ultimately defines you is the family you come from and the life you lead. I could be ethnically from any of the aforementioned countries and still have the same life.

I would love to have the Islamic ummah be a reality, a sense of community that transcends borders. However, the reality is that many of your fellow Muslims will sell you out for their own good. The same way a fellow Somali, even one from the same qabiil will sell you out if he/she could.

Obviously we all love our religion first nothing is wrong with loving your country after it’s not a competition 🙄 why does everything has to be a competition? I like being Somali I love my country although we have some problems so does everyone in the world.

Have you seen these Arabs stick up for Yemen when it comes to the Socotra Islands? I'm not even that big on claiming it, but the way they get mad over Somalis merely joking about it should tell you how they operate, 'muh Ummah' is a nice concept on the ground, but it's not realistic, especially in this age.
