Somali model says she isn’t a nationalist and puts Islam above everything.

Have you seen these Arabs stick up for Yemen when it comes to the Socotra Islands? I'm not even that big on claiming it, but the way they get mad over Somalis merely joking about it should tell you how they operate, 'muh Ummah' is a nice concept on the ground, but it's not realistic, especially in this age.
The idea of the ummah came from above. Not from the arabs themselves. Hence why should up keep it. Don't forget who we answer to.

No thanks, I don't want to partake in something that will just be used against me. Arabs themselves aren't even practising muh Ummah, look no further than what they are doing to Yemen.

Why are you justifying you not partaking in the one ummah policy, by saying the arabs are not either doing it. This argument has no feet to stand on when judgement comes.

Islam isn't incompatible with culture. There's Islam, ie the notion of one God and administering justice by Allah's word, and then there's an unholy obsession with Arab culture guised as practicing islam

Lol, if an Arab and a Somali both need help and I have to pick one, the Somali comes first, always. I expect the same of a Arab in the same predicament, and don't worry about me, I'll gladly take that sin on judgement.

the arab league let libya and yemen collapse into civil war. :francis:

Personally, I think nationalism is stupid. It’s qabiilism in a different shirt.

There’s nothing special about Somalia or the US or China or Romania. What ultimately defines you is the family you come from and the life you lead. I could be ethnically from any of the aforementioned countries and still have the same life.

I would love to have the Islamic ummah be a reality, a sense of community that transcends borders. However, the reality is that many of your fellow Muslims will sell you out for their own good. The same way a fellow Somali, even one from the same qabiil will sell you out if he/she could.
Not really, China, USA, Romania, and Somali are vastly different countries. You very much could have a different life even with the same life

I could argue that we all share the same ethnicities while having different lives and different upbringings.

My point was that I could be Romanian-Australian and have the same life that I currently have as a Somali twenty-something year old in Australia.

there is no saving a person.

I’m Muslim first, but people who think that your culture is not important usually don’t realise they’re replacing their native culture with Arab culture. Loving your ethnicity/culture and religion is not mutually exclusive.

She put too much effort to answer question.
She said all that and could have simply answered no or ignored the question entirely.

The question was straight forward. It was related to self-confidence in where she hails from. Not about being a nationalist or loving everything people do in support of their country of origin. It was not a well thought out answer. She even belittled others.
