Earrings on males is khaniis-like behaviour/movements. I don't care that in adoon "hip-hop culture, earrings are seen as swag iyo fashionable".

We are Somalis not madow adoons. We need to follow our geeljire miyi culture.
 word? do u rock a macawiis and shaal everywhere then?

niggas don't follow 90% of Somali culture, but all of a sudden become a geeljire when it's convenient :drakekidding:

I wear suit and ties, or dress casually. I don't wear those madow fitted hats or khaniis curved hats that these young Somali youth wear. I don't wear tight-pants or have on a shaati that's jeexaan. I dress in a presentable and professional manner.

I dress like that walaal because unfortunately in my maagalaad, Somalis are viewed horribly. I have to uphold the akhlaq that our geeljire miyi forefathers have carried down to us.

I don't like that Somalis have adopted "madow hip-hop culture". We have our own culture and our own morals and ethics. The madow people are unfortunate people because they went through the horrible events of slavery in which they lost their past iyo history. The only thing they were left with was hip-hop culture which has become destructive to their community.

We are very fortunate to still have our Somalinimo and we should always follow our own culture just like how our fellow African brothers do.

I'm actually dead fam :deadosama:

this nigga really reinvented himself :deadosama:

He's testing the waters so he can do it for real.

I say he just go through with it or he'll regret it like I have.

Now I tell my parents of my gaalo behavior over the phone but only drop a bomb shell once in a blue moon.

I'll make my way up as I get older. They're getting suspicious that I am not as religious as when I used to live with them.

"Hoyoo I became a vegan"

"Allah ma Hinduuuuu baad noogatey?"

No, but I'm much worse.

:drakekidding:

If a man wears an earring, he's automatically khaniis. There's no "passes" or excuses for wearing an earring. Earrings are meant for women, not a man who's voice is deeper than Shaquille O'Neal on Inside the NBA.

Just cause the gaalo youth emulate Hip-hop doesn't mean that Somali youth need to emulate it as well. Hip-hop culture isn't Somali culture. Our youth need to follow our Geeljire Miyi Culture.

Hip-hop culture "used" to be masculine and it isn't anymore. You have "Lil Uzi Vert" doing khaniis dances and wearing naago clothes and the OG's in hip-hop are allowing these nikkas to be khaniis talking about "b-b-b-but the music is good though". Hip-hop isn't were it used to be in terms of masculinity.

ehhh that's a stretch. yeah it's not our culture and that's a good enough reason not to have your kids doing it, but just because someone gets a piercing it doesn't mean there's some overreaching gay plot that's coming to fruition. the effeminate nature of some hip hop artists today doesn't distract from the fact that by and large hip hop is a stupidly masculine and homophobic environment. think guys like 50 cent, eminem, tupac himself, most of NWA. those are the prevailing images most somali youth will have seen growing up. these new wack wrappers are the product of the past 5 years or so. they have no influence on how most millenial somali men carry themselves.

u are a Muslim righ? Piercing is for females and the fact that as male you are doing it, it means you are trying to be like a female, well if you are justifying this :snoop:

that's...a very basic analogy tbh. like yeah in OUR culture piercings are for females. but when you're in a western country and your child is no longer following your culture (which is what leads to this sort of thing) you don't apply the same logic. you see what they're following at that particular moment in time. and in most instances with men getting piercings it's usually to mimic specific individuals like the ones i listed above. those men are by and large homophobic, and have been criticized for portraying a barbaric and animalistic sense of masculinity.

just to be clear getting piercing is wrong because it's not our culture, but please drop this weird notion that there's some gay plot trying to slip some effiminizing serum into your kid's coco puffs. it's a tired stereotype and it makes us look like morons.

It is haraam for a man to have piercings on any part of his body, because that is imitating women. It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) cursed effeminate men and women who imitate men and he said: “Expel them from your houses.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5885. Ibn ‘Aabideen (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Piercing the ear in order to wear earrings is part of the adornment of women and it is not permissible for males. End quote from Radd al-Muhtaar, 6/420

I know it's haram and even if it wasn't I would frown upon its usage. But my point is comparing this to qaniisnimo is foolhardy to say the least.

In our culture it's viewed as effeminate but in most around the world it isn't always viewed in that light. So when your child adorns an earring they are obviously following a different culture. And that culture isn't always some qaniis turning ploy creating by zionists like the vast majority of somalis online seem to believe. Sometimes it's just seeing a cool character on TV or trying to emulate hip hop personas. Still bad but not like what some folk here are describing.

Simply educate your child, have the piercing removed (hopefully the hole heals) and voila. The issue is quite literally solved. However, if you begin assuming your kid is being poisoned by some crazy gay agenda then you will more than likely do more harm than good. This is pretty tame shit in this day and age. Alcoholism, lack of morals, drug use, promiscuity are all way up the ladder than homie coming home with a stud on his ear.

The shock and horror he caused his dad was not worth all the money in the world let alone that shitty youtube money.

That kid needs military style training and discipline, in fact, all kids need that. You have to be TOUGH not lovey dovey.

If you don't teach your kids discipline and Islam, then don't expect anything less than this kid. You may get even worse!

Poor father is maskiin in his age, my dad would've gone SSJ3, beat the crap out him and pull that shit from his ear tearing it in the process:mugshotman:

I wore an earing since I was 16 and had a nose stud for several years and there are more things to worry about a teenager's life-style than an earing. Piercings on lips and mouths originated from ancient African cultures, while ear and nose piercings originated from Jewish traditions some 5000 years ago. A Papuan friend once came to an inter-cultural party dressed a Koteka. There are Somali refugees in Papua New Guinea, imagine their grandchildren dressed a traditional koteka like the bloke below?
