was surfing on the internet and i stumpled on this

”Where do I begin... I hate how some stupid freshie Somalis will be like 'We are not black and that we are arabs' that gets on my nerves because we ARE BLACK. I love being black, but unfortunately it makes me sad how some black people and white people think we're not black and that we are arabs. Somalia is a laughing stock, the country is a joke to the whole world. I hate Al Shabaab and how uncivilised Somalis can be like. I don't wear a headscarf just because people will automatically know I'm Somali, which I hate.

Majority of the people in London hates Somalis because of how they are everywhere and how they take benefits, but both of my parents work and we don't take any benefits, just because some lazy Somalis take it doesn't mean we all do.

I'm so embarrassed to be a Somali, I don't have any Somali friends all my friends are English, Jamaican, Mixed race, Nigerian, etc... I hate how all the Somali guys look at me and give me this death stare just because I don't have any Somali friends and how I am hanging around with Non Somali boys.

I find Somali guys really unattractive, they think they are so hot but they're so fugly and I will never ever marry a Somali guy, I'm scared that no other ethnicity would want to marry me because I'm Somali just because they are the most hated in London.

I also hate how Somali girls are such attention seekers, I'm glad I've never made any Somali friends. I don't think we would have anything in common plus I can't even speak Somali, I can say a few words like easy words but I can understand if someone talks to me in Somali but I won't be able to reply back. There's no point in learning the language since it comes in no use since I won't be marrying a Somali or don't have any Somali friends, plus both of my parents understand English.

I also hate how Somalis look down on other blacks and think that they are superior it's like shut up there's nothing to be Superior about.

I wish I was white or from the Caribbeans or from West Africa in that way I would have a lot of things to be proud off. I honestly don't know what to do, I hate being Somali with a passion, I always cry to myself and dream about being a different ethnicity.

I sometimes even lie that I'm Ethiopian just to avoid Somali people from talking to me, I also hate when people ask me what ethnicity I am, I get so embarrassed because I don't want to say I'm Somali. Plus I really hate my name since it's Somali and my last name is Abdi which is even worse. FML.” :snoop: :farmajoyaab:

I have said it before and I'll say it again. You give far too much attention to people disguised as Somalis or those rare anomalies with self-hate issues whoses voices are only amplified online and not IRL. Focus your time less on wayward ciyaal and more on people who show some impact. You are contributing to the problem by giving these trolls airtime.

I get called a racist. I get called colorist. I get called a superimist. I get called a self hater. When I utter “I’m a Somali nothing more and nothing less.”

I think I’m in the minority when I say I don’t conform to the Ana Arab vs We Are Black division in our community. We as Somalis lack pride in our identity but I think self identity is linked with Nationalism.

As someone who has some grasp of Somali history, nationalism or Somalinimo only became apparent or widespread during colonialism. Prior to colonialism (which occurred in late 19th century) Somalis had tribal sultantes whether it be the Sultanate of Geledi or The Warsangeli Sultanate just to name a few.

So when Colonialism came it was understandable for rival tribes to put their differences aside to fight the common enemy the European colonists.

After colonialism ended in 1960 when “Somalia” became a thing that’s when the internal divisions amongst Somalis started again. That’s when countries took advantage of a fragile Somalia.

Ethiopia took K5. Kenya took NFD. France rigged an election/referendum to keep Djibouti away from Somalia. Complied with the civil war that occurred.

Now in the present day we see SL wanting independence. Puntland Independence Movement is slowly growing and it’s now a thing. Jubbaland also seem to be heading down that direction with assistance from Kenya.

People trying to ostrich their way out of this one. This wasn't posted by a troll. You can find posts like that all over the internet.

I got real connections
London takes this L, I'm a proud Somali man from America. I'm cool with most races, but if you disrespect me you might get a hole in your head. What's with the UK diaspora having low self-esteem, in my city we body anybody who get's in our way.

I wish i could see this face to face, i'd knock her out :pacspit::pacspit::pacspit::pacspit: giving xalimos a bad name.... i wish i was a fucking carribean former slave kulaha

That most likely isn't a troll but I'm assuming whoever's wrote it is very young and has a lot of self esteem issues.

Some of these kids in high school nowadays are straight bullies and I swear there was a trend in London sometime back where non Somalis thought it was a 'thing' to insult Somali's, like it was the 'cool' thing to do

I remember even Maya Jama saying when she was in high school she use to claim being Jamacian but look at her now, she's very proud of her Somali roots

We insult each other as Somali's everyday, you don't even have to look far, just look on here. So if we constantly fight/insult eacother, why would any other race take us seriously?

Maya is mixed race and her step father was Jamaican. Plus, here aabo was in prison for a while so there weren't any decent Somali examples.

I have met many Somalis from the UK and the older heads (older millennials) didn't have these issues. It made me wonder if there was a generational problem or if the advent of social media made the shameless highly visible.

When I was younger people concealed their shame. The fallen ones in this generation expect you to cheer them on even if they are living a demeaning life or degrading their own through their lifestyle choices and the qashin they say.
