I have thought about this topic after @Inquisitive_ repeated a few times, regarding PL over-all Military Track Record. I must say I disagree with him completely yet again as all of his analysis hasn't gone into the intricate details of why Majerten lose every battle they enter. Yes we do have a poor track record losing battles, from sayid time with the onslaught and throwing off men from cliffs, to the 91 wars in hamar, kismayo, and galkayo and now the wars in Somaliland.
Let's be honest, PL military track record has been atrocious. From the sayid time he brought together various clans with dhulbahante as the number 1 and attacked PL which was one clan. Obviously the death-toll would be high on our end but we did re-buffer him and sent him back home. But the death-toll was a-lot higher on our end.
From 91 we saw huge losses and defeats from the USC, now I can accept that USC won but it needs to be analyzed how they won. They had a key advantage which was uniting all hawiye clans cuz they live close together, there is no geographic divide and especially with the back-drop of anti siyad barrism in the air at the time, it wasn't a hard feat. While Darod clans are 'separated' due to distance PL/JL basically couldn't back each other up or provide support to one and another. Technically it was impossible and that's why some Darods thought it would be better to side with the USC like Colonel Jess and pay homage and hope their isn't casualties on them. While others thought it would be better to break the Hawiye up and that was Abdillahi Yusuf method.
In all reality, politically Abdillahi Yusuf succeeded in his ultimate vision. The Hawiye eventually broke up and fought each other cause Abdilahi Yusuf either persuaded Ali Mahdi(possibly as @Inquisitive_ says thru sixir knowing full well what it will lead too and pampering him he is the owner of Mogadishu and should be president) or Ali Mahdi already had 'political' ambitions inside him and Abdilahi responded to it and said you will get my tribe support and we will make it look like a 'national govt' unlike the USC which was very clannish(irirism). But I know fully that Abdilahi Yusuf agenda wasn't a political post at all, I suspect he wanted the hawiye to eat each other alive. This provides the Darod safety from any onslaught as the Hawiye are distracted on themselves and it also provides an avenue of revenge for the death of Darods in Mogadishu, Kismayo, and Galkayo. Either way I am not sure what motivated Abdillahi Yusuf but these are the scenarios I suspect. But what I am certain of is Abdilahi Yusuf knew the Darod had a key weakness due to geographic distances and I am sure Aideed knew this also and fully exploited it and united the Hawiye, where-as Abdilahi responded by breaking them up and bringing back the sub-clan level playing field again.
Either way whatever method was employed be it the 'sixir' or using Ali Mahdi own selfish agendas for himself, either way we know the result. The Hawiye broke down into a 4 month war and then stale-mate with spurious conflict up untill 2004 and returned to sub-clan politics. In-fact the whole nation did, I suspect this is what he wanted Abdillahi Yusuf as sub-clans we will never defeat each other cuz there isn't a key advantage, it will always end in a stale-mate and I suspect this is what influenced him to implement federalism as it breaks everyone back down into sub-clans and keeps the stale-mate politically/economically/militarily with no-one having an advantage over another and creates an environment of mutual respect and negiotations to prosper. This is my scenarios and I could be totally wrong but this is what I suspect, but it could be wrong and their maybe other reasons for what happened and what motivated our politicians in Somalia during this troublesome era.
Now I won't go into the Islamist era as that isn't a war in-terms of clans vs clans, this is insurgencies and other political agendas at play. Yes clan has a factor and is the driving force involved but it isn't whole clans involved in this but individuals recruited from each clan are put together into formidable force. Yes Shabab is subject to tribe and sends their Mujahids to attack opposite clans, none of them will attack their own 'tol' and they know this. No1 escapes tribalism not even the 'deen'.
OOPS, I went into politics, now lets get back on track. We are talking about PL military track record. So far what we do know is militarily we lost in 91, we even lost in Kismayo among other Darods(even though this is a simplistic view the Marehan had Cayr with them, the MJ didnt have Ogaden with them and the OGS didn't have the MJ with them. The Kablalax alliance broke down and we were divided and hence got swallowed up by two united clans). It's basic maths 2 clans will always beat 1. Heaps of clans in hawiye will always beat the geographically separated clans in PL or JL. Either way we lost but there is explanations for those and the @Inquisitive_ fails to accept these explanations and translates everything into 'majerten' are cowards and naago and need to resort to booty-clappin. He refuses to analyse the intrisicate details involved and the factors at play before reaching such horrendous conclusions.
Please @Inquisitive_ Stop the nonsense of Majerten being women and booty-clappers, take into account the various variables and factors involved. When it comes to one on one sub-clan vs sub-clan noone is stronger, the variables are the same. Look at the Dhulos vs MJ geeljires, always end in stale-mate. Look at Galkayo Omar Mahmud-Sacad always end in stalemate. It's only when it's broadened out and the other clan your fighting hasn't broadened it out, that's when the outcome of the war changes thru pure mathamatics. So no clan is braver then the other bro, it's just some clans way isu habar wacdan so they can get an advantage of another clan who is sitting duck and has no back up. But at a sub-clan level no1 is stronger then another and we have the proof of this since after the fall of the USC and the nation returning to sub-clan politics, we see no1 has won the civil war in military terms. We are in a stale-mate and it will stay like that untill someone begins the 'laysu habar wacdo' and when that happens something will change and an outcome will happen. Till then Somalis are equally the same in military aspects not 1 clan is stronger then the other, including majerten unless the variables are applied which is in laysu habar wacdo and change the dynamics of the battle and get an advantage.
As for the Isaaq, in all honesty what is happening there is dhulos sl vs dhulos pl and it only broadens out when Isaaq get involved or Majerten get involved. Notice, the second Isaaq gets involved, Majerten responds cuz it keeps the stale-mate going and ensures no1 has an advantage. But when it's dhulos sl vs dhulos pl it's the same outcome, a stalemate and then heads into another stalemate cuz mj and isaaq get involved which check each other off. It's pure mathematics wallahi. But at a sub-clan level wallahi I will be suprised a sub-clan is stronger then another in Somalia. I have yet to see the evidence for this anywhere in the nation untill laysu habar wacdo which changes the dynamic and only changes if the opposing clan doesn't respond with in laysu habar wacdo.
So Please drop this Anti Majerten crusade, it's not a fair analysis what your doing and the doctor had to respond and put inquisitive in his place. To everyone else, Suugo Analysis OVER N OUT.
