If greater Somalia happened

Somalis share a common culture and language. The only thing that makes us different is just clan. I don’t see why this is complicated for Somalis to be like the Japanese (who are once divided by clans but became united with culture) Again: I know this is laughable because of how divided Somalis are. But this is getting pathetic.

:snoop:

Resource wise I understand. I mean if the US can just take greenland I see where your coming from.

as sad as this is I dont think we are seeing a powerful somalia in our lifetime, our childrens lifetime or your grandchildrens lifetime. History discards the weak and empires and people fall. With the trajectory the country is headed to im not even sure a somalia will exist by the end of the century.

It wont work. Some somalis on tiktok say im closer to a habesha than someone of x clan. The south has ethiopian troops and they prefer them over FGS (both are bad and they should be federally able to rule themselves). We have come to a point in time where this wont even help. Somalis are so disconnected from one another that they would prefer to rally with the enemy.

This couldve worked 50 years ago though. Today its about gains. If SL or PL or FGS or JL or any of these other states heard a hint of business with the enemy whilst earning significant money, even if they are oppressing somalis in galbeed or in NFD or within their own territories, they would sell them out for lacag.

no such thing as a “righteous” politician. Everyones in it for themselves

So what’s the solution?
Focus on development and increasing wealth. FGS is practically finished since donors have been decreasing foreign aid. When its all said and done, the rich businessmen and sheikhs are the ones with the most power.
No one likes each other
While there is certainly a level of distrust, Somalis don't truly *hate* each other. All the political spats you see are mainly between greedy polliticians and the clan skirmishes you see are over resources and are really nothing compared to the massacres and ethnic strife in other parts of Africa. Simply put, Somalis face issues with lack of a common civic identity, not inherent hate of other Somalis.
The Adal didn’t cover the whole of the North
It still covered a significant amount. Both it and Ajuran were multi qabil entities that existed for centuries.
we have the mentality of xoolos and not much has changed
A lot has changed actually. For the first time since the 19th century foreigners have been meddling with Somalis and invading the country numerous times. They are the single biggest destablizing influence of the country, not the mentality or culture of Somalis. And this is obvious when you see that Somalia functioned well as a country from 1960-1985 until foreign influence started seeping in and caused trouble.

Sadly Somaliweyn is a myth and I don’t see it happening any time soon. Somalis hate each other too much. Even if an amazing president was to come about, the rest of the Somalis would hate him simply because he’s not of their clan. If you’re not one of their own, they will rubbish everything you do and if you’re a terrible president, they’ll big you up since you’re one of their clansmen. Maybe the only way forward is if every major qabil becomes their own country? I’m beginning to see where people like @Garaad Awal are coming from. The small qabils can live with those of the major Qabils they live with and they’ll behave because they have no choice.

Unfortunately, based on my observations, our people as an ethnic group are hateful towards each other. The only time they understand to unite is when they’re an ethnic minority which is why they do well in Kenya and other African countries since they’re smart enough to band together regardless of qabil when foreigner are the majority. But when Somalis are all together it’s chaos. The mentality of the Somali is disastrous for any state building. There is a reason for why a millennia we’ve never had a proper united nation. Forget all Somalis, all of the South was never united. All
Of the North was never united or all central Somalia was never united.

I hope things change in the next few yrs.
We don't need to form a Somaliweyn, we need to salvage and rebuild the Somalia we already have.. Greater Somalia is just a delusion pipe dream.

This is what I’m talking about. Mentality is sick. He is married to an Isaaq lady, has Isaaq reer Abti’s for his kids and he talks like this. This is the sick mentality found amongst our people. During the war kids that had the same grandparents via maternal lines were slaughtering each other for being different tribes despite being closer relations than their actual clans men. I’ve had aunts who couldn’t even trust some of their family members with their kids since their kids were of a different qabil that were the enemy tribe during that time period.

Since we are Somali westerners we don’t see how intense this obsession with clans are back home especially when tensions are high. As a woman who marries a different clan sometimes you can’t even trust your own uncles, cousins or even your own nephews to not harm your own kids of a different clan.

That sicko you’re replying to is simply walking in that same tradition.
This is one of the main reasons why I’m so over qabil, especially as a woman. How many times do we see Somali men insulting their reer abtis on social media, and it’s completely normalised? Even the term reer abti feels disrespectful in itself. If only people like that user I replied to, and other qabilist Somali men, weren’t so closeted with their hate. Why do they feel comfortable deceiving Somali women and their families? Do they really think any father would accept a man who frequently insults their clan? They are such hateful cowards, and it’s clear they see us as women with no real lineage, whose only role is to increase theirs. I used to think those women who said “stick to your own sub-clan” were deluded, but these days, I can see their point.

It is disrespectful. Instead of saying mothers side, they keep on only talking about uncles and fathers since that is all that matters in the Somali psche.

You’re right sis. Some of the stories I’ve heard about the war were sick inducing. Imagine hearing stories about women’s own brothers and nephews plotting against their cousin/nephew during the height of the war? People being hidden away from people they’ve known their entire lives because of qabil? As a woman how does tribe even help us when our own tribesmen can plot to kill our children due to being of a different tribe? Or if you’re r-worded or violated by your tribes men, many of your own people will try and spare him since he’s a man and will further the tribe whilst you’re a mere woman. Tribalist women are low IQ.

As for women saying oh you should only get with your sub-clan, whilst that might help you when full blown tribal wars happen, if the man of your sub clan turns on you, he being a man and a person that can further the tribe, he will always have more priority, since many Somali men believe women have no tribe which is why it’s common to see qabilst men who hate with a passion a certain tribe still marrying their womenfolk.

didn’t you mention that you are married to an Isaaq woman? What a nasty, shameless man akhaas. I hope she’s aware of your comments towards her people.
I love Isaaq iyo Hawiye. One is my wife and the other is my grandmother.

I am open about my statements.

I don't like to lie to myself. Keep on dreaming adeer.

If I said anything wrong about culture and identity? Then prove me wrong.

Otherwise, keep it moving Insha'Allah tacala 👍
