Farmaajo's term is ending just like HSM. Recognizing Madoobe and going to useless meetings with Somaliland. The more things change the more they stay the same.
President Madoobe was elected in 2019, his 4 year term ends in 2023 and Farmaajo recognized him until 2022...using the word interim is to keep his loyal supporters happy.
Farmaajo wasted his 4 years on what I don’t know. What has changed on the ground in Somalia since feb 2017? No elections, no final draft of the constitution, SNA remains unable to wage war on its own, infrastructure going to shit as roads that have not been repaired in 30 years wash away etc...

This is a win win situation for everyone involved, no more wars against each other. However the plan to completely take back the region from shabaab forces will continue and so is the offense on buale. This is a deal many will not like but ultimately, it saves the region from further bloodshed.
