-How come little kids do not drink caano iyo shaah anymore? Its a proud Somali tradition to give kids around asr, after their nap, a cup of caano iyo shaah (60% caano 40% hot tea) Instead of filling them with juice, give them caano iyo shaah which has more nutrients.

-How come we do not raise the kids of less fortunate family members anymore? We use to adopt kids and raise them as our own. Here in the west, being a foster family is a lucrative business. So you will get paid well and you will contribute to society.

I remember when I was too young to drink shaah so it was always mixed up with caano for real back then shaah was like khamri for us kids something old people drink but us children can't drink

My brother spilled the kettle with a shaah kuleel ah on my foot. As @government said shaah is our khamri as shaah induced accidents are very high in our community

I accidentally spilled my moms cup off shaah on my thigh when I was 5. Suffered a second degree burn from it.

Wallahi i remember that day well. Cause after the spill my leg was blistering and the skin was coming off easily. So instead of going to the hospital as soon as possible we stoped by my habaryar’s houses first. I clearly needed medical help but my mom wanted to talk to my aunt about some diracs she wanted to sell. We went to the hospital 30 minutes later.

Fam my entire childhood I was raised eating cangeero with sugar and butter for breakfast. Also with tea, for lunch and dinner I ate it with beef suqaar.

When it came to malawax I either ate it with Suqaar or just by itself. Didn’t really experiment with it that much. I have eaten it with some sugar and butter.


Canjeero with tea is disgustig to me. I don’t know how any of y’all eat it.

On my vacation to Canada it felt like I was cursed. For some reason everyone House I slept at. My aunts made canjeero with shaah everymorning

I have been tormented by canjeero and shaah over the years. Sleeping over at friends homes and their moms make it everymoring. I can’t deny her food. She spent time making it for me. It was torture but I still finished the plates . It was hell sometimes.
