Yes and No. Somali culture is being changed, and unfortunately not in a good way.
new age niggas will tell you they prefer light skin chicks, something our fathers never cared about. In the west, you can say they have been influenced by pretty much all the cultures that promote light skin=pretty but what about back home? What explains the reason women back home bleach so much? in a country where most people are dark skin? are hindi movies really that influential?

Western somalis aren't even colorists when compared to Somalis in east Africa. Saying words like madoobe to someone can come off very offensive and saying cadey to a xalimo is actually a compliment.

@jugjugwacwac is right. It’s not like dark skin people in Somalia are socially lower, don’t get access to certain things. A light skin Madhibaan will be treated poorly and a dark skin Cidagale won’t and that’s a fact.
