I personally have never dated but I would definitely consider doing so in the future. Reason being: I don't want an arranged marriage-- I wanna thoroughly get to know (and vet) whoever I'm gonna be stuck with for the rest of my life. Dating, imo, is an interview process and a way to filter out what you like from what you don't.

OP, I think you may have a different idea of what "dating" involves than some here do. Why is there an insinuation that s-x must always accompany the concept of dating? Different people, different rules.

It seems that I have a different definition of dating and arranged marriage.

So then for Somalis, what IS dating? My crew had a lot of Pakistanis and their idea of arranged marriage is just a short meeting with the guy your parents chose for you.

For Somalis, arranged marriage is more of a suggestion your parents or relatives made about a person, and then with your mahram you meet up with them a couple of times to discuss your compatability.

So then dating for you is just doing that but without the Mahram?

I agree. But I've heard that it's ceeb to ask the hard hitting questions and tbh I think that also contributes to the high divorce rate.
