Do you think it's okay to date?

Would you date?

I've been seeing a lot of farax/halimo bashing threads where the OP was in a relationship. As @Duke of Bohol would (probably) say: why marry a girl you can date? It's like ordering a meal when you can get unlimited free samples of it.

So for those who would date: what's your reasoning behind it?

I'm also interested in how everyone sees the boyfriend and the girlfriend. Guys, if you get a gf, would you seriously consider marrying her? Or is she just the appetizer?

In the community it's not really seen badly for the guy unless the girl is pious but it's a death sentence for the girl. Thoughts?

Halal dating is OK (going out to dinner or lunch and getting to learn know the girl you want to marry better is fine.) But you can't give the sabaayad wrap.

Its just getting to know and hanging out with someone before you decide to marry them.

And what are you able to do then that you wouldn't with a mahram? I know marriage meetings as a whole barely touch the surface as it is when it comes to getting to know someone. Is there still that fine line between trying to appear shy and appealing and figuring out if it's a deadbeat farax/ ho Halimo ?

Dating is fine as long as it doesn't get physical. Though most people today date for the sake of it(marriage isn't the intention), and they waste time.

Waiting for that qumayo to quote me and say this is boring, live a little blah.

Isn't dating the thing where it's casual with people and not just one person and there isn't any exclusivity yet?

I've seen people do that, usually cadaans but also somalis. I've also heard a quote something about dating 100 guys and seeing if there's the one in the list of guys.

Dating is synonymous with wasmo in this western culture :farmajoyaab:

I keep seeing the concept of halal dating in this thread and irl and I'm just :what1:

I agree that there's the big worry of not truly knowing the person with the current Somali and Islamic method but I think that has to do more with how we're carrying it out than with the process itself.

Would you actually get to know someone with your brother, father, cousin, or uncle sitting there?
