Dark skin xalimo claims dark skin xalimos are the most neglected in Somali households

Really? You must be super unaware of your surroundings or haven’t been around many Somalis. Even at birth, Somali aunties look at the kid ear to see if she would be dark or light, Somali men in general are more into light skin girls. It’s a thing, it exist whether you want to believe it or not.

Again, tell me how that exclusion manifests itself on a societal level. Are they excluded? Are they marginalised?

The tweet says that they are ignored as if they are some kind of untouchables.

There are a lot of pale kids that get picked on from deviating from the norm. I could understand if you said people that are deemed attractive get lighter prison sentences but to say that people will avoid you for being dark-skinned is ridiculous. Since when were women of any shade deemed threatening.

Lol yeah, I don’t know if you know this but all new born babies are usually light skin, except if you look at their ears the color is different there and usually a good indicator of their true skin tone. I didn’t know this either until couple years ago when my friend had a baby and one of her aunt checked the baby’s ear and was like oh she won’t be light for long

No, dark men aren’t actively shamed for it like women are. It’s bc men just aren’t shamed for their aesthetics in the same way.

But I think they still pick up on it, and prefer light skinned women as a means to cancel out their own dark skin.
