not at all, the Italians only made 4 recorded willing converts in 25 years of history, and two of them were Eritrean orthodox. Ciyaal misyoni were orphans who were forcibly converted to Catholicism by the fascists, they don’t count and majority of somalis past and present don’t hold the forcible conversion against them.

Somali culture has been heavily tied to Islam due to Somalis being one of the first Muslims.
Kuffar Somalis tend to be demonised a lot as Islam is something we can all relate to and gives us shared beliefs and wants. Not necessarily true and that's actually a good argument for those that say ethnicity/nationality is tied to religion for certain cultures.

A lot of turks are ethnically Greek but became Turkish. The only thing diffrenating a turk and a Greek for centuries was islam. They adopted Turkish culture and became nationally Turkish and today many people there if you test there dna might come up 100% balkan or Greek because they were turkified upon accepting Islam even the royal ottoman family isnt turkish they mixed with a whole bunch of europeans.

The somali identity as we know it came hand in hand with Islam. We don't have any records going back pior to Islam of Somalis being referred to by others or refering to themselves as somalis and the groups we do know about when it comes to somalis pre Islam were referred to as macrobian and puntites and stuff like that.

plus realistically a non muslim somali will most likely mix out and leave there whole identity behind themselves anyways. I doubt they care about being accepted or not.

As for the actual question yes they are somali genetically but there is more to somali identity besides genetics and islam plays a huge part In our identity

It's pretty dumb to assume that having a somali mother also makes one non somali when mothers are the ones that pass on their culture to their kids. So you mean to say that a kid fluent in somali and knowledgeable about the somali culture isn't somali anymore? Flawed logic.
