They are no longer part of the ethnic group but they are still part of their clan. You can never leave your clan. We all know you can't be kicked out of your qabiil.

Remove the entirety of religion, and you're sort of detaching yourself. At least that's how I feel sometimes, since I sort of do my own thing nowadays.

If Somali Christians (though in the margins) existed and they have a qabil (Somali father) then they are by default Somali. There is no being apart of a clan and not being Somali. You can not pick and choose. Somalis are more qabil-centred than Somali-centric. You know that.

ciyaal misyoni donβt count, they were gaal through no fault of their own. Somalis are not that qabilist, rural and diaspora somalis are the most clannist, urban somalis basically donβt care.
There is no clan thats Somali who would defend a gaal member, you get tossed out of one for three car accidents, be serious.

There were full Somali orphans too. That were purely Somalis (converted to Catholicism). Not in recent history. I know an old lady that revered back. So clearly they existed.
not at all, the Italians only made 4 recorded willing converts in 25 years of history, and two of them were Eritrean orthodox. Ciyaal misyoni were orphans who were forcibly converted to Catholicism by the fascists, they donβt count and majority of somalis past and present donβt hold the forcible conversion against them.

Even in Northern Somalia there were a minority of Somali Christans. I underscore the term minority. Many of these people came back to Islam. During their ethnoreligious liminality they were Somali enough to be in positions of political influence. So IDK what the definition is.
