somalis would be terrible slaves....they knew it wasnt worth it. First of all we are not built to carry heavy load constantly, secondly we are headache to deal with and rebels by nature. Religion didn't "save" us, historically Somalis would've never accepted being slaves to any foreigner & they would always fight to the death rather than live a life in bondage. Yes we were technologically inferior to many ajnabis, but so were the arabs since they got their sophisticated weapons from the ottomans etc.
Same reason goes for the North Africans, such as the Sahrawis & Tuaregs as to why they weren't enslaved, but west africans were enslaved by the Europeans....they would make terrible slaves & they'd never accept a life in bondage.

Actually that is incorrect. The majority of the west-central african slaves where muslims. And before islam, of all the east africans, the habeshas were a known slave commodity, somalis were not among those slaves. You could argue and say that the habeshas enslaved themselves too, but that's another story. So we wuz not slaves before and after islam, You argue that without islam in the equation, we would have been vulnerable to slavers because of our lack of strength? Isn't that for every weak ancient nation? I mean the greeks and romans used to enslave other white people. So by saying we could have been enslaved, does not mean that we are equal to the bantus of some sort. And we had the leverage of being good merchants, so the romans and the arabs both benefited from the exchange. You don't enslave people you see as equals, or at very least respect in some sense

I met many Tunisians in Italy and they were some of the most hospitable people you could meet.
Also I've lived in Egypt for a few months and they welcomed Somalis as their Arab brothers.

Just like today, even though saudi-arabia have the means to produce weapons and aircrafts it is easier for them to import, so they made connections with western countries through various interest. Madows did have stiks and pikes as weapons, they could not manufacture good quality weapons.
