Well, I heard it's scheduled in a few months time.

It is but it is too late the damage to Somaliland credibility in the international stage is already done. Here is the amount of times the elections have been delayed.

1. 2015 June elections (original date) - Delayed

2. 2016 - June elections (second date) - Delayed

3. 2017 - March elections (third date) - Delayed

4. 2017 - November elections (fourth date) ? :russ:

2 and 3 for good reason. And 3 hasn't happened yet, have a little faith.

It actually happened. The elections were scheduled to happen in early 2017 but because of the drought it was extended to November.
So November is the fourth time.

Indeed we will see inshallah. Do you think Sland credibility in the international stage will ever come back?

I never trusted all their competing interests in Sland to begin with. So I'm not too bothered if they rate it or not.

But yes, to answer your question, where there's resources the IC's support is never far behind :manny:

This is why Landers are bad at politics. You should care about how international politics
influences Somaliland. Case in point you see right in this thread the damage Saudi Arabia
banning the livestock did to Somaliland economy.

There should be a balance. Appeasing international politicians is partly why the South is the way it is today. With AMISOM and secret bases running amok, same in Djibouti, well over there it's no secret. It's also why Johnson felt he could talk down to Farmaajo when he asked about the arms deal. They only respect you as long as you are useful and serve their interests.

The south is a totally different case you should compare Sland to Pland. You raised some valid
points but remember at the end of the day it is Somaliland that needs the international community
not the other way around. Unless you want us to go the Eritrea route then don't advocate for
unrealistic things. Somaliland can't even pay for its own elections and depends on the IC plus
it wants recognition from them.

Pland is fighting it's own battles, I heard they were infiltrated by AS a few times. Their approach was excellent: no mercy, cleansing the vermin bila hadal. I agree, they are politically astute/ siyaasiyin but they're confused about which direction they're heading in. Somaliland has a clear goal and inshallah I pray dependency on the IC reduces drastically. For many years we were doing fine without recognition and we'll be fine now.

@Hilaac How does Somaliland have clear goals when everyone and their grandma knows recognition will never come?
truth be told Somaliland is in a limbo and is in denial everyone knows it. Puntland on the other hand doesn't pretend
to be democratic with 1 man 1 vote that saves them a lot of resources plus they don't have the IC breathing down
their necks. Keep in mind both states are part of Somalia. Somaliland doesn't benefit from anything by keeping
up this appearance of being a " democratic country" other than few aid which now the IC cut, that is the truth.

They do have clear goals that are apparent to every Somali and increasingly more and more non-Somalis alike. Not that, that even matters but the point is still there. There's no denial or pretending, have you asked yourself why the IC isn't bothering them. Maybe they're in line :icon lol:

Somaliland benefits a lot, for one its not doing too bad. It is completely self-governing, not perfectly but INDEPENDTLY of the south. Rumour has it Pland wants to the same, I don't really see them sharing much with their southern brothers anyway :icon rolleyes:

Unrealistic goals is what it is awoowe. Somaliland is now 27 years old and there is no sign of "recognition" , it
is time you woke up and smelled the coffee. You will be my 99th convert to realism. Somaliland
can be a autonomous region in Somalia like it is now, but that is where the bucket ends and anyone
sane shouldn't expect recognition anytime soon.
