Honor killing doesn't mean controlling the women, or a result of punishment for adultery. Sometimes the girl/woman got raped, and the father/son/relative will kill her to wash the shame from the family name.

There are other reasons, like asking divorce in very conservative family (shame) or that she cannot demand a divorce even thou if she was married young and by force, or refusing to get back - separated-, not satisfying him, or mocking his manhood, disagreement on marriage arrangement, the list goes on.
