Firstly, Somalis really shouldn’t be having mixed weddings, so people here are right to say it’s haram, but on a flip note, I’m wondering what the men here think happens at mixed weddings lol? I’m genuinely confused?

Usually the weddings are female only until the end and usually the married women tend to just sit at the table and there are far too many Somali Habars and the whole community for your wife to mess around or to speak to a man.

Why would you think something will happen there when your wife has her family members, cousins, friends ect around her who will be scandalized if she so much as makes a wrong move? Also, contrary to popular belief, mixed weddings tend to not even have a lot of guys, usually the grooms close friends and family. Most men will just opt to go to the Nikkah and not the party.
So what’s the big fuss?

I’m not saying people should be proper on board with letting their wives go ect but this is a strange topic for me because generally this isn’t usually a discussion with Somalis, like I can’t imagine a Somali man being like it’s mixed you can’t go to your cousins wedding . it’s such a foreign thing.

Personally, I think as a woman you should simply show your face and dip before all the mixing takes place as mixed weddings are boring as you can’t take your hijab off and dress up. All my practicing family members just go to show face, still wear their full hijab and leave early. I don’t think that you should have any trust issues about her going or think it’s some sort of big party like atmosphere.

I’m only pointing this out to the young guys here who seem to have this mad idea that shit goes down lol. Believe me every Islaan, ayeeyo and Habar is there who are worse than any CCTV camera. Also, most of the weddings that your spouse will go to will be family ones and friends.
