The United States is the third most dangerous country in the world in terms of sexual violence toward women, according to 548 women’s rights experts polled by the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
Women in the U.S. are more prone to falling victim to rape as a weapon of war, rape by a stranger and domestic rape than women in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Mexico and Somalia, according to the experts.
The women’s rights experts also placed America as the sixth most dangerous country in the world for women in terms of non-sexual violence, ahead of seventh-place Saudi Arabia, a country that prohibits women from making major decisions without male permission, wear clothes that “show off their beauty” and interact with men they’re not related to.
