Culture isnt static sxb. The bad aspects of our culture should be eradicated to improve the overall culture. Similar to how FGM is being eradicated.

Gulf Arabs are not a good example to be followed. Without the oil wealth, they would have been no different to the tribal Iraqi Arabs.

Just to give you an advise, If you or your children are living in Somalia or if your kids are moving there, they would have to know their qabiil since Qabiil can get you killed there. If you and your kids are living outside of Somalia than you can simply withhold their qabiil info from them so they focus on more productive things in life.

You can't teach Somali culture/tradition without mentioning Qabiil, if you want your child to grow up knowledgeable about Somalia, you have to mention qabiil

Gulf Arabs have held on to their tribal system, but they don't misuse it because they're more educated & loyal to their nationalities thanks to the fruits of Oil wealth.

Iraqi Arabs are basically the Gulf Arabs before they struck Oil.

I would only tell them if they found out about the Somali clan system and they wanted to know. My clan is large, powerful and loved by all but I would downplay it. Maybe I will tell them they are Tumaal or something (in addition to my Jewish matrilineal roots which is true). It makes for a better story.

To put this into perspective one of the major qabils of Somalia think they're linked to Jews. I already told you it's fake lineages, it literally serves no purpose because at some point you're not going to be linked to whoever you said you were.

I've never seen someone kill 50 people with a knife but I've seen it on the news with a gun. Same way I'm yet to see a country in 30 years of civil war arguing over fake lineages.
