Im a free thinker. I wouldnt have been against federalism if it was working. Its clearly not functioning or sustainable. Lets not beat a dead horse sis. If qabiil gave me something of value I would appreciate but for now I dont see the value in it.

Your qabiil, that is if you are Majerteen, gave you a safe place to live in. If you are among those who give thanks. You should ask other qabiils this same question, and they'll actually have something to complain about, but not you.

A Centralised government? We had that, during the Siad Barre regime and it resulted in ethnic cleansing. Even in a Centralised system, we'd still have qabiils who live in certain regions. Or do you propose that families are moved forcefully and placed in mixed-clan towns ??

Abayo, you can't run from your qabiil aka family. Please enjoy your shirib, your bun and cambuulo, and all the things that your family have enjoyed for Centuries. All you need to do, is not discriminate against others, and you don't do that.
I added some stuff to my previous statement.Do others not eat cambuulo I’m surprised 😭😭.I dont discriminate against others as that’s primitive behaviour and I’m a modern homo sapien. Also to add I forgot something I don’t stand by people just because their Hawiye or Abgaal or whatever it’s not good for us to have that mentality as it Has destroyed others

Did I tell you what to believe? Did I tell you what to support? We are only disputing the claims you are making about Puntland and Federalism, which are completely false.

Secondly, Qabiil is your family abtiris, it's not a gang, it's not a political stance. You can't run away from who your family is. Nobody is telling you to discriminate against other people, and if we want to be civilised, we need to learn how to respect each other and that's it.
Im not saying im leaving my family sis, im just saying confederation is the way to go.

They do eat cambuulo sis, lol, I was just making an example. Every clan has certain unique things that make them who they are, and you should enjoy it freely.

A confederation would be wonderful, it's an even more autonomous form of federalism.
And again, there would be states that are dominated by certain clans, and nothing will change that, unless, again, people are forcefully moved out of their ancestral lands and forced to live in man-made, mixed-clan cities; which would result in war and balaayo.

Ik we had a painful experience with centralised government but with federalism we are so stagnant and theres so much corruption. Theres no progress at all. How will we develop if we are content being ruled by some corrupt clansmen who have full pockets while our people are destitute just cause they are part of our clan?

Federalism hasn't been given a chance outside of Puntland.

Good questions, what we need is a strong judicial system, anti-corruption laws, and only vote for people who have a proven track record. I would also say that salaries for politicians should be lowered, to remove the appeal of these jobs.

Thanks ladies, that was a mature, productive conversation.

A question for Ms @Mudug_gyal
What type of confederations did you have in mind? And how would it work?

Could I ask in which country you reside?

Ms Queen @π’π’šπ’’π’‚π’˜π’‚π’— π’Žπ’šπ’—π’—π’’
Are you a teacher by training?
Can we make a capital that is completely a neutral place like its not ruled by one clan or anything. It would be inhabited by every clan? Like a somali new york? It would be a bufferzone. The main reason why confederation didnt work is because people favored qabiil over statehood and somalinimo. How can Ethiopia with bajillion ethnicities coexist but we kill eachother over clan? :faysalwtf:

Every inch of land is claimed by a family/clan.

I had a proposal once, to make a rotating capital between all FMS, so the government spends a few months in each Federal State out of the year.

I think it would be good for security, and it means that if Somalia is ever invaded, the enemies can't claim to have 'captured the capital city'. It also gives equal attention and funding to all FMS.

Because I believe Isaacs don't believe they are somalis otherwise they would have no problem sharing a country with them. Now how do we solve that problem. Nothing but forceful somalification on the somalia side and brutal separation on somaliland side. They Isaacs regard the somalis residing within their territory as a geographical anomaly to be treated as second class citizens albeit with all citizen rights on paper.

Everybody wants to be a big fish in a small pond rather than a small fish in a big pond. This pattern can be seen with every group of Somali elites, be it in Kismayo, Mogadishu, Garowe or Hargeisa. That is the dilemma of a society emerging from a clan-obsessed dictatorship and now headed by clan-orientated leaders. Their followers end up having the mentality of being an insignificant Sardine when their ethnicity in fact represents a majestic blue whale from an African context.

They go from having 5 deepwater ports to having maybe one. They go from having the largest coastline in continental Africa to a little sliver of coastline allowing them to compete with other maritime minnows. They go from being one of the top 10 largest ethnic groups in Africa to being a subgroup with a couple hundred thousand members or maybe a few millions, still small enough to fit in a district of a city like Cairo. They go from having mountains, jungles, rivers, dunes, grasslands, farmlands to being secluded to a territory with maybe one or two of those geographic features. They go from being in possession of vast quantities of oil, gas, gemstones, salt, gypsum, uranium, lithium, and fisheries worth trillions that could dictate and impact the world economy to rationalising their current poverty to a force majeure.

The best way to bring Somalis together is through economics, education, soft power and infrastructure; roads, railways, industrial parks, films, music, universities, schools, etc. Let them taste the fruits of countrywide mobility and access to jobs, education and other regional cultural experiences in the various cities of Somalia. Let them see their historic heroes on the big screen and television to press home what is expected of them. Let them realise how important their unity is to the welfare of other Muslim groups in the Horn and beyond, I’m sure they would eventually accept their duty.

This is how China reintegrated the newer generations of Hong Kong and Macau, and how they will bring back Taiwan.

Also @Mudug_gyal @Wonyluvr

What Puntland did with the last election, by allowing all Somali residents to vote, regardless of their clan background/where they came from, is a blueprint for what is to come. For example, our lovely @Wonyluvr can live where she wants in Puntland, and in a few years, if she likes vote, or run for office herself.

Hopefully, if the other FMS get their act together, remove AlShabab and so forth, you @Mudug_gyal can move where you want in Somalia, and do the same thing. This is how it was, before Siad Barre stole power, and refused elections!

Federalism doesn't mean, that you are superglued in one place, it just means that a certain land-mass comes under one state. It doesn't mean people cannot move freely, for jobs, love, etc.
