the south is green even with the rain theft. So is galbeed. Somalia as a whole isnt desert. I would even say we arent semi arid we are mostly green. Only place where i would say its desert is central somalia but even that area isnt fully desert.

If you did even the most cursory glance at recent somali history you would know somalia is beholden to foriegn meddling, and dealt with MULTIPLE invasions, such as the 2006 invasion.

If we look at somalia outside of a civil war it is objectively better than ethiopia in peacetime.
Somalia had free education, a low rate of joblessness, strong national unity, and the strongest military in africa right before the ogaden war, after the ethiopians got help from a coalition of nations that is when somalia started to spiral towards civil war.

This actually shows what’s possible when Somalis are simply left to govern themselves: peace, development, and real progress. The post-2018 transformation of the Somali Region is living proof.
When the interference stops and autonomy is respected, Somalis build.
That alone proves the point:, the problem actor is not Somalia. It’s the Ethiopian state model and leadership.
This isn’t about “hating Ethiopia” or some nationalist projection , it’s about assessing reality. Ethiopia’s leadership and state ideology have been the primary obstacle to peace and development in the region, not the Somali people or state. And that’s a truth more people are starting to see.

This is why i stress the need to strengthen local governance in Somalia and strenghten domestic revenue channels because it makes a government accountable and responsible to its people. Tax collection grew ten fold from between 2020/2021 and 2025.
