:mjlol:I suspect he said m something fucked up? But then he called me edo so maybe not.

Does everyone you know know how to write and speak Somali? I rarely get a chance to use it. I go days without speaking a word of it. My spoken Somali is neither here nor there and I can't pronounce some things, but I notice myself starting to try writing it more on here.

Lol thank you. I'm sorry I thought you were dissing me :icon lol:
Do you parents not speak somali or is the language to fancy for them

its probably because somalis make sure that their children speak somali at home. I think that most are able to write semi-fluently because they can format the phonetic spoken language with the written language due to somali being latinised. It explains why somalis write words differently as the written words can be implemented subjectively. e.g. gurriga iso guriga. I rarely speak somali these days, so i feel you. kkk

I would rather be fondling that hair of yours and sing "just the two of us". I would not insult a woman. I am cool with the ladies.

They speak and understand both. When I speak to my parents its in a mixture of Somali and English that's overpowered by English tbh, probably 80/20 or 90/10. They tried the whole no English in the house thing but that died a quick death.

Oh my parents rarely talk in English inside the house. And my dad never speaks in English unless he's angry that's when I know I'm in trouble

Meesha waxa ka buusha fatooshiin isleh haddaad af soomaali ku hadhashaan, fobs ama kuwa "casriga" ama aduunyada ka hadhay ayaa la idiin moodi:mybusiness:

they need to index that shit. its getting annoying. people are writting words with different vowels and shit.

The different vowels are due to regional dialect. Sometimes letter or letters are cut out of words and they are all legit. Example:

- Maxaa tiri?
- Maxaad tidhi?
- Xaa Tiri

The word "Maxaa" is written in three different ways. Somalis back home would have no issue understanding all. But the standard is "Maxaa" or "Maxaad" , the one you would see in books and articles. The variant words or ones missing a letter or two from the same word is just regional dialect.

true shit. Ive noticed that the waqooyi and the galbeed regions speak in the more formal, rigid style. more textbook. The wariyes on tv use the waqooyi dialect.

Markaan garan waayo erey af soomali sida loo qoro sheekheeni Google ayaan ku qoraayo siday dadku uu qoreen ayaan markaa ka gartaa sidii saxda ah. I know I've spelt a word correctly when it actually comes up with links where it's mentioned and that works most times
