This is objectively untrue information, the city was founded by the Harla people a loooong time ago, then the Harla morphed into the Hararis we see today, Hararghe had a Somali presence basically since the Somalis came into being and it became Somali majority after the utter destruction the war with Xabash caused the Harari people to decline harshly.

The Oromos only arrived in the 16th century, and in doing so violently dispossessed the Somalis and Hararis. Add that to a century of really violent persecution of the Harari and Somali people in Hararghe and it can be explained why Harar is Oromo-Amhara while Hararghe is Oromo.

You may be mixing Harar with Dirdhaba, because with Dirdhaba the Oromos claim they created the city, they do not say this about Harar.

I never said they founded harar, I said they have had presence in harar since its founding. I agree Oromos came to harar in the 16th century, because that is the time harar was founded. Despite written records claiming otherwise, harar came to existence in the 16th century according to the latest archeological studies carbon dating its oldest ruins and walls, and like you said the Oromos have existed in harar since the 16th century

There was oromo presence in the city pre harar invasion as well, there exists a manuscript from the 16th century recovered in harar by Wagner in 1972 by the name of kitab al fara’id written in the harla language which was penned by a man by the name of abdurrahman al arasi, who was Oromo

Oromos have just as much (if not more) of a claim to harar than Somalis
