Why Are Dispora Somalis Getting Angry About This Vid 🤣

Even those are below average to world standards, look at Iraq, despite being having war for decades they manage to look this amazing
Below average or not. I think it’s amazing that we’ve managed to build so many great places despite a substandard government. Xamar is an interesting place as despite the poverty and many issues people are always building new places and attractions. The city never stops developing. Every time I go back there is always a big difference.

It is hard to understand. For more than 30 years as a diaspora kid all you’ve been seeing is videos is kharxiis, refugee camps, tin houses and the like. Now that we’re seeing more content of nice places in Xamar, you won’t to complain? We all know the dark reality, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are nice place. I was surprised the first time I went to Xamar. The first I went back home I was in the North, so seeing Xamar was a bit of a surprise but in a good way. Definitely the prettiest city.

I've been seeing those videos constantly because that was the reality, you seem ashamed about the reality of the nation.

Somalia was known as the switzerland as Africa

Your cousin Knaan even said in his song

"Mogadishu, used to be, a place where the world would come to see"
And then
"Dhiigii wa batay nagala soo bax"

I’m beginning to see a recurring theme. Allah is my witness if I was to see a Somali lady posting all the nice places in Galkayo and see that it’s developing with nice attractions, I’d be happy and would want to visit. I guess people are built different. I also have a sneaky feeling that if this was about a girl from their city the reaction would be different.

Somali social media is predominantly composed of certain tribes. These certain tribes are also the loudest. God forbid you post or say anything positive about Hargeisa or Muqdisho, they'll be up in arms about "muh tuulo is better".

Of course, all of Somalia has a long way to go. I'm not a fan of all these shopping centers, restaurants and "luxury facilitates" that only the wealthy or diaspora could afford. But something is better than nothing.

Damascus, Syria Somalia is a 25th world shit hole

Where is that?
100%, they just hate seeing other somali progress, I always give praise when puntland does something good but I dont know why they cant do the same for other somalis
it’s disturbing at this point. I get excited when I see new projects in Xamar, Hargesia or Puntland. At the end of the day, at least it’s a step in the right direction even if it’s a baby step.

Whatever you think of Somalia or Mogadishu, it is light years ahead of where it was 20 years ago or even 10 years ago and it will be unrecognisable a decade from now. A lot of people in the diaspora whose entire brand is built around Somali poverty, mocking that situation or think they are realists by pointing out the obvious (that Somalia is still recovering) will have a hard time accepting a new reality that even mainstream media is picking up.

That's only Mogadishu and most of the buildings was still there, what you need is gdp in which somalia was just 1 billion GDP
The Somali population was much lower back then so didn't require one so high, plus the majority of the population was reer miyi :deadrose: stop coping

These are cheap buildings owned by the top elite of Xamar, this is irrelevant to the poor ciyaal jiingad living in slums run by gang members who will slice your neck for a necklace

100%

Anyone that has been back home recently would not be saying what they’re saying that. Believe me I was shocked after coming back two years later. How can one not be happy about the drastic development? The fact that business is thriving there?

Yet those building are everywhere now. The main parts of the city actually look nice. Ten times better compared to ten years ago. Hence, imagine how it will look like in another 5-10 years?

She’s in the capital. There are no famines there.
Every city in Somalia is experiencing hunger. The 1m IDP camp in Mogadishu has regular cholera outbreaks and lack of funding for food and water and you believe there's no famine. Why do you believe Xamar is free from the realities of Somalia?

No they are not everywhere, they are centred around the main city centres like Madiino Howlwadaag and Hodan, the rest is a shit hole

I’m not the biggest fan as well, but I’d say it’s a step in the right direction. Better we build our country instead of investing in Kenya and building luxury hotels and malls in Nairobi and Mombassa when we can do it in our country which will provide jobs to the locals. Many here brag that Somalis are the builders of Nairobi but get angry people are finally investing in their homeland. If that isn’t uqdaad I don’t know what is. They’re hiding behind feeling sorry for the poor, yet it’s those businesses that will employ many of them.

Toxic really.
