Why Are Dispora Somalis Getting Angry About This Vid 🤣

Once you accept that some Somali have unfortunately become self hating xaasids that have internalized all the negative stories from Somalia for over 30 years, you will understand why some are so keen to always badmouth anything positive related to the Somali name. It's like a coping mechanism for the weak hearted.

These same billa dhiig haters won't lift a finger to help the people back home but are quick to minimize any progress and insult anything Somalia related out of some fake concern.

I mean, even if you're not impressed...why not keep silent or type in Somali with genuine criticism instead of degrading your country so openly and getting likes from ajanabis?

Muqdisho is so ridiculously big that you could live a lifestyle that is close to the developed world average if you have enough money. Something similar is taking place in Hargeisa and Jigjiga.

The larger a city's population is, the larger the absolute number of people rich enough to live like the girl in the video. This is already the case in all of the larger cities in Africa, grinding poverty and wealth next to each other.

People find this distasteful because the money this girl is spending each day is probably how much the average family of 6 in Xamar spend in a month. This disparity shocks the senses.

What’s wrong with the video ? Why is it controversial ?

It’s as if u guys want the only videos posted from Xamar to be about qaraxs and poverty. Let the damn girl enjoy her netflix.

Those somalis living abroad would love the video if they werent refugees in other countries lmao they see this as normal life and now look down on somalia. They can save their negativity. This is a regular video that finally shows a good side and their yapping.

Somalia was poor kulaha :deadrose: this niggas qabiilist on another level

Somalia was known as the switzerland as Africa

Your cousin Knaan even said in his song

"Mogadishu, used to be, a place where the world would come to see"
And then
"Dhiigii wa batay nagala soo bax"

Thats still ugly no offense. Plus pretty buildings don’t mean nothing about the average lifestyle of a citizen.

Xamar being the capital city has a lot of middle class people compared to other cities and one doesn’t have to live in a gated community to have that lifestyle.

I don’t understand the controversy of this girl posting her day to day life. I really don’t.

It is because she showed a very distorted image of the hell-hole. It is far from the truth.

I would not buy and eat anything packaged over there. I rather would eat the organic traditional foods. Just to be safe.
why ? The importers of goods into Somalia are the most ruthless people in the country. They’ll buy expired or a knockoff from China or Dubai. The chicken in the supermarket is ones that the Dubai supermarkets were ready to throw it away.
There’s no government quality control.

lastly, a carton of cereal is twice the price of ones in the U.S. 98% of the population is living off off $4 a day. So for you to pay $80 in one trip to a supermarket in Mogadishu is evil.

Grigori? How are you doing? I’v had the fortune of seeing your twitter account. Whilst it’s on brand with your wackiness, it was refreshingly unbiased.

Makes sense

People can read, I’m sure it has a sell by date.

Buying packaged meat isn’t smart. I wouldn’t do it but with regards to meats, it’s very easy to tell when it’s fresh or not. We have eyes and noses. But I agree with you in saying that quality control is non existent.

I agree. I hate how everything is expensive. But that’s what happens when the currency is in dollars and everything is imported.

Perhaps 1% of the population actually lives like this. There is no middle class in Mogadishu, either your poor or rich. So diaspora shopping around in a markedup supermarket is really insensitive to the reality.

Somalis spent $2.7 billion a month on services via mobile money alone, forget the high circulation of shillings and dollars, and this was in 2018. Today it would be double or triple that amount easily, which is $60 billion a year on the low end. You guys have internalised those ancient CIA World Fact Book figures on Somalia’s GDP and per capita income and actually believe that is the real economy.

What’s wrong with spending $80 on groceries ? It’s her money she can do as she likes. Why do you want her to spend her money in random gaalo countries instead of in her homeland?

$80 isn’t even that much, just say you’re broke.

I googled up Darusalam Xaafad. Not bad. I prefer the old parts of the city and if I were to go back, that is where I would choose to live. My grandfather's house, our family home, is in Boondheere and close to Villa Somalia. Our former neighbours rebuilt their homes so ours is one of the old houses needing remodeling. If the house comes my way, I will sell it to the first bidder.

Why would you sell your grandfathers home? Simply remodel it and keep it in the family and pass it down to your children! That’s history right there! We still have the house that my grandfather was born in although we had to completely change it but it’s at least in its original place!
