People already see the suffering and the poverty everyday on social media to such an extent that people can’t believe we have basic things like spas, gyms, shopping centers, well looked after parks, blocks and the like. So your argument about people not showing the real parts is a false one. For years, that is literally the only thing that was shown. Why is it an issue if people show the other side? I’ve been to a lot of those really nice places and guess what? It’s packed out with locals. There is an emerging middle class back home which is why high end looking restaurants do very well back home. Spas and nice salons are packed out as well.

It is hard to understand. For more than 30 years as a diaspora kid all you’ve been seeing is videos is kharxiis, refugee camps, tin houses and the like. Now that we’re seeing more content of nice places in Xamar, you won’t to complain? We all know the dark reality, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are nice place. I was surprised the first time I went to Xamar. The first I went back home I was in the North, so seeing Xamar was a bit of a surprise but in a good way. Definitely the prettiest city.
