I wished I learned an instrument when I was young. I went to dugsi every Saturday and Sunday learning the Qu'ran only to forget about almost 3/4ths of it.

I was taken off my Ice Hockey team because apparently my parents thought i was becoming Cadaan Washed :umwhat:

I got half my team to say stuff like "wallahi" and "hoyada Wase" So safe to say i got them Somali Washed :win:

Force feeding. I hate most fruits because of this, especially the fucking apples. I'll never touch that shit again. There was not a night I didn't suffer. :yloezpe:

Religion. To make a long story short, my life would've been much easier had my parents not been religious.

Anger. Whenever my mother got angry at something irrelevant, she would become 10x stricter.

Lack of presence. My dad was never really there for the bulk of my childhood. It got to the point where I felt like he was an annoying guest.

My parents never used to let me grow my hair my mom said it was too Madow like dukhsi. She also said that it made her get headaches :mjcry::kendrickcry:

I used to be annoyed by how over protective my Aabe was but then my ayeyo told me all reer waqooyi fathers are like that and when I grew up I appreciated. Back in the days I used to be so annoyed when he would insist on coming out of the house and walking me home. It was a 5 minute walk but he said the dark was too dangerous for me.

I hated how my mom let my brother do whatever he wanted but made me do housework 24/7. I don't think I've seen my brother clean the dishes or the washroom.

I know the problem is my hair isn't even that Madow I don't know why my family makes fun of it. Once my aunt laughed because my hair falls out in clumps :mjcry:
Your hair is probably very curly and gets tangled. You need to detangle it properly walaleey. I don't know any Somalis with timo Madow it's very rare.

It's not Madow it's just that it gets curly very fast and I don't like to untangle it I didn't want to have an afro but know I use gel and it looks good

every parenting style they employed i used to have a problem with until i realized just how much they've helped me

tbh the only real issue i had with how i was brought up was not having that much freedom between the ages of 10-14. i wanted to go outside unsupervised like my friends but i'm glad i had a watchful eye on me. far too many instances i thought were jovial turned out to be life-altering mistakes my friends had made. and if i was rolling with them alone that would probably have been me.

i've lived a relatively privileged life alhamdullilah
