what is an ethnic somali?

That is a good point but I also want to add this.

Somalia is a melting pot by African standards. The intermarriage Somalis have done within themselves and other ethnicities has made the term "ethnic Somali" ambiguous.

Many, if not most Somalis, have at least one Arab-Somali family member, whether it is an aunt or a distant relative. Many in the south have an cad cad or banjuni or even an Italian relative.

If the definition didn't bother us back then, why now. It's important to look at both sides.
Somalia is no melting pot. GTFOH with that trash. My family has been cousin breeding for hundreds of years.
We don't have any Arab blood or any foreign blood.
My family has only ever married into 3 of the 5 Somali clans. If you are not part of the 5 major clans, you are not Somali

Does not have to be Arab. So you're going to tell me no-one in your extended family for generations never married an ajnabi or cad cad or bantu or arab.

Stop the cap man. It does not make you any less Somali to admit it.
It's possible they could have but that doesn't mean most somalis do like you said. You could say that about any group

In pre-war Somalia, that was considered an Arab-Somali stereotype. Plus not something to be proud of.

I thought you said your family only cousin breeded. Now you're saying you married into three clans.

Where is the consistency. Next thing you will say is that you have a third cousin called Michel from Lebanon.

I said "many, if not most". Meaning if not most then many for sure.

I am saying in the last four or five generations of your family (probably hundreds of people), one probably married an ajnabi, bantu, arab or cad cad.

That is not a mad claim. A mad claim is if I said everyone in Somalia has foreign blood.

My paternal side of the family is baadiye from the middle of Somalia and I have some relatives that have married cad cads or ajnabi or arabs.

Etnic somalis are the cushites/puntites

Everyone can be Somali, but not etnic Somali we have Bantu Somalis that came as slaves in the middle 19th century
Bajunis that are mix of etnic somalis,Arabs,Indians and Swahili
CadCad they are etnic somalis with Arab and some Swahili dna
Mehris Arabs/south semites
All these groups have the right to identify as Somalis (if they want) but they can never be an etnic Somali

For me an ethnic Somali is one whose parents are both Somali, anything else - even Horn African - and the conversation is over, and yes that goes for the 'muh lineage' type too
Person can be Somali if the person have somali lineage there pure or ethnicity cuz ethnicity is invented by europeans somalippl always gave go by lineage

Non

The 5 major clans are related you moron.
You are not one of us, why does it concern you what we identify as, and who we marry.
Stop telling us what we are

I have a British passport, I was raised in the United Kingdom, educated here, and I work here. That does not give me the right to identify as an Angelo Saxon.
Minorities living in Somalia are not Cushitic. They live with us, they work with us but they are not us.
