What are your stances?

A- Strict centralism where all power is concentrated in the capital. Representation within the central gov however is clan diverse where any Somali can take any position including presidency. Regional governance is limited to only the district level or the 18 regions with power being minimal

B- Centralism with aspects of Fedralism based on the 18 regions. The central government is still the strongest entity in every corner of the country however the gobols enjoy a minimal level of local governance and each gobol is given a budget by the federal government based on their populations to handle their internal affaies

C- Fedralism. This is where each of the 6 states (and whatever new ones are made) manage their own affairs similarly but not identical to our system of today. We will maintain an upper and lower house and encompass all forms of modern day federalism. The states will enjoy some autonomy in managing the states as well as collecting a small amount of state tax. We will however have a strong FGS where most things including foreign affairs, education, the military etc will be centralised. The FGS would be much stronger than the states.

D- Fedralism with a weak FGS. This isn’t much different to normal federalism only that the FGS is much weaker than the states. The 6 states handle all their own affairs. Most taxes would go to the states with only the bare minimum being used to maintain the FGS.

E- Confederalism. The FGS practically has no power outside the capital. The states function as independent countries with their owm militaries. The FGS handles only the essential things like foreign affairs and currency.

F- Aan kala yaacno. Independence for all with strict borders

If your thinking something different feel free to add on

Decentralization in a unitary model, similar to Indonesia or Senegal.

If there is no interest in that, then independence for all.

I am B personally but wouldn’t mind C. Post Shabaab era will most likely be C which is healthy federalism. Some states like PL currently operate between D and E

Federalism with a weak FGS even though the negatives that come from it are fairly heaft (not enough funding for a well-armed army and a thus a weak international standing). I’m voting primarily on how taxes should be spent and I don’t think these dead broke states can afford to prop up a federal government without taking away from much needed development related funding. Otherwise I would vote A*

as people get educated the qabil identity will disappear and people will start to only identify as "somali" with growing "Cushitism" kkk and so will "federalism" as it only fueled by qabil, just give it 3 decades and qabil will be seen as shameful stuff, Somalia's future looks like "strict centralism"

What’s the point of federalism if the government runs the schools ? In federalism education is the states responsibility.

Judging by what your saying I think your leaning more to C. Funds would be allocated to the parts of the country that need it the most and there will still be state tax. Smaller local projects would be funded by the state whereas bigger inter-state gov projects would be funded by the FGS throughout the country

I meant everyone taking the same tests like the SATs or A-levels. But for argument sake let’s say in C we have a common nationwide curriculum and in D we don’t.

Personally I chose B, and if not A. The stronger the central government the stronger and more unified Somalia will be. In Somalia specifically stronger states will lead to people identifying more with their respective states, which would inevitably lead to internal division. Both these options do however pose the risk of another Barre emerging sometime in the future. But this can be avoided if measures are taken such as all political parties having to be clan diverse

These are also the best options for Beesha considering all the countries power will be concentrated in our backyard. Mogadishu will no doubt become the most affluent and developed part of the country. This is good for our people both in Xamar and around it as development flows out the city into our regions surrounding it. C is also acceptable for us as we would still lead 2 states. Banadir state and Hirshabelle state and be the only clan in Somalia to be able to do so.

Ideally A. strong central government that promotes strong somali identity and weakens clan structure.

in reality I think central government not even intentially willl overlook certain regions and clans due to lack of resources and will be used as scapegoat. We don’t have money like Saudi Arabia to support everyone. It will lead to discontent and people rebelling and even working with outside enemies to be spiteful and sink ship with everyone. Which leads to civil war then clan states and back to where we are today. Voted D even though it’s recipe for poor irrelevant Somalia.

Shouldn’t a Islamic state be an option ? Being Muslim is most important cultural and political force in Somalia. can it overcome our qabil tendencies 🤔 lol

I would love for us to adapt the Swiss federal System, where the country is divided into a three tier federal System with a federal, state and a county government. The county should be responsible for practically everything within its border may it be security, education and so on and powers are only delegated upwards to state and federal level when necessary.

This is how switzerland is able to function even tho its one of the most diverse countries in the world where 4 languages are spoken and states (cantons) differ vastly in culture and way of life

Somalis don’t differ at all in language, culture and many other things. Qabyaalad is cancer in somalia that needs to get rid of. Somalis sadly aren’t ready for that currently.
