Of course it‘s your house and your rules. You gotta do certain things with hikmah. Unfortunately a lot somalis lack it and then they cry when their daughters become gaalos and run off with their gaalo bf. Sadly it happens a lot these days. So pls don‘t cry when this happens huuno

Strict parents result to confused children who‘ll try out anything.

You cannot enforce the hijab on your daughters, that’s not how it works huuno. That‘s something a girl should decide and choose for herself cuz only then she will truly wear the hijab and honor it. She shouldn’t wear it to please her parents and the muslim society. She should wear out of love for Allah swt and with conviction. Otherwise it‘s meaningless and the hijab will slip (turban style) and eventually she will take it off. Happens a lot. I grew up never wearing the hijab and decided to put it on in my late teens. Best decision of my life and it’s still properly on alhamdulillah. What you can do is convince your daughters and put the love of Allah in their hearts.
Yes we can enforce it as fathers.

When the scholars talk about raising kids they talk about two things. familiarity and leading by example.

When it comes to teaching boys salah, they say start teaching them when they are young. Take him to the masjid. let him see you pray. lead by example. that way it becomes time for them to pray they already are accostomed to it. this creates famiiiarity

When it comes to girls, mothers who raise good daughters have the girls wearing hijab at ages of 4 and 5. they encourage their daughters to wear them. obviously they are still kids. but instead of experimenting with barbie dolls and other nonsense, the girls look at their moms wearing hijab, praying salah, reading quran in the house etc. basically the mother creates the islamic environment in the house alongside the father.

this becomes so familiar that enforcement is not even necessary. alot of dayusin dads and moms do not pray, do not fast, do not teach their kids anything and is it anywonder the kids become qashin in life.

if parents do their jobs right enforcement is not even necessary.

ofcourse..... once in a while you get someone who steps out of line and in that case well

KARBASH!
You nailed it. Some parents want the daughters to wear the hijab yet the mom does.

You guys are thinking backwards if you believe your kids will grow up to be practicing Muslims in the west. Religion can't survive in the west anymore. Raise your kids back home or in the Muslim world if Islam is important to you.

Niqab for cultural reasons? Why?
My mom is Afghani and in Afghanistan the women wear the niqab to hide her beauty from men in the streets. Other Afghani families have different reasons though. Another cultural thing is the burqa. Which my family and i are both against especially my dad.
Here's the burqa..

If I had a daughter I would introduce her to the hijab when shes 8-9I believe thats an appropriate time

I feel like at that age they can understand the meaning of the hijab better instead of wearing it from young age out of habit

i started wearing hijab at age 5 so i would probably do the same for my child

if she is not ready yet, i would definitely make sure she understands and accepts wearing it before she's islamically of age

It’s not that serious
@AishaBarri,

This is why you should introduce the hijab to your daughters at around 6 or 7 so they will already be used to it by the time they reach their teens. You can use that time to teach them the importance of wearing the hijab.

Best,

Faahiye
I’d rather do it on my own free will tbh
