Where do you see Puntland in the next 5-10 years?

Does Puntland expand its territory? Does Puntland leave the rest of Somalia in the dust? We need a vision 2025 for Puntland.

The independence and separatist movement in Puntland will grow a lot larger after Somaliland gets recognition. They will see the that there are more benefits to gain from seceding.

They will isolate themselves from the FGS and begin a campaign for recognition. It will continue on for 30-50 years before they actually get recognition.

Very stressful times await our Puntites brothers may Allah grant them sabr..

The government of Somalia will of course be against this but wont be able to actually do much to stop them. It will be Somaliland remix..

28 years into the self declared Republic of Puntland they will host a foreign military base and a Bosaso port concession to DP World after Somaliland does a hostile takeover of Berbera Port.(Djibouti Doraleh Port Remix)

The gif below will show how the international community will react to Puntland declaring full independence.

@Lordilord is ridiculous, why would Puntland copy a region that has lower socioeconomic status than itself? Somaliland is much poorer than Puntland per capita and does worse in all indicators. Puntland must learn from countries that has similar economic and geographical problems if it wants to improve. Hosting military bases and signing over 70% of your main asset is for the 3rd world, not the Horn.

Puntland is 20 years old in August there is a lot of work to be done.

Its pretty simple, higher level of isolationism/stronger separatist movement if the south doesn't fix its problem, much more engagement and reasonable level of autonomy if the south does fix its problems, either way sitting on the fence will allow our talented politicians to get all the benefits of Somaliland style secession (aid, and military funding for PSF) as well as being influential with respect to the federal government.

I see the future of Puntland very bright mashallah! I think Puntland will go two paths when the election comes around they will vote for a historic legend figure of Somalia like a general Morgan perhaps? Or go young and youthful and vote for a young bright individual that has big plans for Puntland!

We need our Somali youth to be involved if you ask me.

Inshallah it will be the latter, we need fresh dhiig, we need a man with military actions like AY (AUN) and a man with development innovatives like Gaas. And a NonCorruptable man like Cadde Musse (AUN)

It's impossible to find a man with all those qualities. That's why we don't need one leader but a team.

Military leaders are naturally brash, calculative and lack empathy. Especially older military leaders, civilian leaders should be the first choice .An educated civilian leader can transform a nation as they can both relate to the populace and expose faults in a system.

For example I would argue even if AY (AUN) was alive today his leadership would help secure the southern cities but wouldn't be as effective in puntland.Although I am against Gaas he has a high degree in the field of economics which can further build the region, he has also exposed corrupt methods used by leaders as he isn't calculative enough to cover his tracks.

Why isn't Jubaland allied with Puntland Hawiye are united politically because they share Xamar, we need to do that for Kismayo we share that city. :bell::bell::bell::bell:

Jubaland and Puntland always side politically.
When Ahmed Madoobe first came Puntland, Dalkii iyo Dadkii way isu soo baxeen.
Puntland iyo Jubaland wa bah wada dashoo ilah baa is badoo way isu baahanyihin

waraabe

Your superior
punani state wont be here in 10 years, they are already at the limit and struggling. There are 2 terror camps in puntland with one belonging to al shabab and the other belonging to isis. they cant afford to pay their army and this is leading to the army constantly abandoning posts to loot. Puntland's main source of income bosaso port is struggling

P&O ports took over the management of the port and we still dont know the terms and conditions, in fact puntlannders like @Cotton Eyed Joe @Abdalla and @Yonis would rather talk about berbera port rather than the unknown terms and conditions of bosaso port

nah Madoobe snakes around alot, at times you see him siding however that is not the case for 50% of the time.

Yes and no. I never knew the info about Puntland total GDP was so outdated so it is highly unlikely it is still the same gap. Only thing I can actually find is a 2010 estimate..

Puntland 2010 had GDP of 1.3 billion and Somaliland 2012 had GDP of 1.6 billion.

Then 3 years later 2015 Somaliland GDP increased another 300 billion to 1.9 billion.
