If someone with a middle class income loses his (or her) job, they can either switch to Obamacare for the lower income people or they can join what is called COBRA which they pay monthly and maintain their healthcare insurance.

For senior citizens, they have Medicare, which is free for them.

In American healthcare, there is government provided and there is a private one. You're responsible as a citizen to choose which one you want to have and eligible for.

Get healthcare before you start drawing comparisons.

The federal, state, and city governments share it on different levels. The federal governments funds it through the state governments. It is the state governments that choose what they want to add to the portion of the federal funding that comes.

But the way it is structured is different depending upon your income level. If you're a poor, you have a free medical, dental and vision coverage through Obamacare.

If you're employed, you get it through your employer, where employer contributes its portion and employee contributes his (or her) share on pre-tax basis. You set aside a portion of your income into a healthcare saving account on pre-tax basis and spend it for healthcare costs.

If you have big bills for healthcare, you can deduct them from your taxes when you file your taxes.
