This obsession they have with other madows and constantly needing to put them down is different from the ways they look at other cultures. I was genuinely shocked at the level of abuse directed at Madow weyn when I joined this forum.
It’s similar to how some users believe it’s a religious obligation to have gheera towards random Somali women on the internet. You are supposed to have this for your female relatives. I don’t know any male Somali who gets inflamed about someone like Maya Jama.
I’m having the same arguments over and over again. Progress can never be made because you can’t reason with a lot of people on this forum.

A lot of people on this forum are trolls/insane I wouldn't listen to their opinion on anything. Just like in politics the loud minority may come across as large in numbers but when it comes down to vote you see they are non existed. Most people on the internet have their opinions they wouldn't dare change cause it would hurt their pride so you would be wasting your time. All my somali friends IRL are normal and aren't racist that alone keeps me happy and sane XD

blacks hate themselves nothing newYeah when the intention is to substitute Madow for the n-word it's toxic and just an attempt to be slick with the racism. So there is really no way to objectively use this word in the West.
But then again the term Madow doesn't make any sense on the surface, since Somalis have a variation of hair-types and are not exactly jileec like Indians but more on a spectrum (not too curly and not too straight).
I think what our ancestors tried to convey is a way to describe foreign ethnicities on the basis of their appearance. What us diasporas usually do is demean people we could otherwise describe perfectly fine with their ethnicity, as a way to get back at them.
Honestly I wouldn't take a break over such debates, they are to be expected, and maybe you can change somebody's mind, you never know.

@Jaydaan you strike me as someone whose never met anyone who has countered his views before. Some of the questions you ask are bizarre.
James Baldwin said the reason why black people use the N word is because even if they stopped using it, they know it wouldn’t stop Cadaan people from using it in their living rooms. Black people have appropriated this word to remove the sting out of it.
They should not have to appropriate words from other black communities who suffer the same level or even worse stigma. Now let me ask you this, with so many black Muslims like Gambians, or even someone like Mohammad Ali, how do you justify using these terms that they find so offensive. It’s not about what you say, it’s about how you say it. I agree that the word Madow initially is a descriptive word of people with kinky hair and wide noses. However a lot of you guys use it in a negative way that is really uncalled for.
