Turkey plans to develop space station launch site in Somalia.
What stands out in this news is the fact that Turkey has developed its own rocket engines. It looks like two separate companies have developed and successfully tested their own models: one from Roketsan and another from DeltaV. It is not a small fit technologically.

Elon Musk has close relationship with Erdogan. He visited Turkey in 2017 and have joint projects with Turkish companies. Both talked to each other just 3 weeks ago.

Coincidentally Turkey was able to put a test payload into space with its own rockets in 2017 as well.

What the Turks need to do now is to develop their own multi-use space rockets like Elon Musk's SpaceX Falcons.

I wonder in what part of Somalia they are planning to build their spaceport. There was a news a while back that the Turks were mulling to put a Naval base in Gulmudug. I bet those will be tied to each other.

In another news, Turkey is in the process of finalizing the purchase of its 4th deep-sea oil and gas drilling rig from Norway. It is too many for its needs unless they are planning to bring one to Somalia.

All these news means Turkey can't afford Somalia not to have its own Somali Navy in the long term. Hopefully good times are ahead for Somalia.

you can't just rely on other nations to build your shit for you. Look at Iran, they're drowning in sanctions yet they've developed nukes and spacecraft. What's up with African leaders :kodaksmiley:

Somalia has so much potential, big land , untapped resources, small population.
it's sad that we can't get our act together.
we just need 10 yrs of uninterrupted peace and Somalia will change forever. I'm sure of it.
Not just that we also have a key geographical location within this century, arguably the Indian Ocean is becoming much more significant. It would be a massive boon to our economy especially if we helped facilitate trade within the massive developing markets in Asia while simultaneously applying pressure in the Red Sea.

Somalia is located close to the equator like Florida in the US, it's why Falcons and NASA launch from there. Somalia could become the Florida of Africa once space programs are launched from there.
