You need to think about this logically and take the emotional side out of this equation. What happened to her was bad and our Reputation doesn't really matter let's put that to the side.

If we want to bring awareness in a way that would help. The best way to do it is by campaigning and bring awareness where it matters.

Fgm is only practiced by somalis back home and often the old gen that's rather uneducated. It's paramount that you do all this in somali to actually get the message across to the culprits so we can have some cultural change.

Grifters do it in English to a non somali audience because its easy money. What exactly does that achieve in the grand scheme of things?

Plus she doesn't even do much besides filling her pockets with money made off white sympathy. She doesn't help at all back home most of her efforts is towards letting ajnabis in on the conversation who realistically can't do a thing.
Ajnabis can sympathize but they aint gonna change somali culture and us in the west that understand her aren't the intended target. Most of what she's done in bring awareness towards the issue has been useless when it comes towards actually solving the issue because the ayeeyos back home who do it aren't being addressed in the first place.

The intended audience is the only group not being reached and anyone who's not trying to get this message to its intend audience is a grifter.

Personally if telling ajnabis about fgm solved the issue I would be all for it but the reality is that it doesn't.

If you were born in the west and/or have educated parents. You would not have it done. People in that age group (are still millenials) and were likely raised abroad at the very least. Unless they came later. I know Somalis older than me that were born in the US. It's those that come after childhood to the west that likely had FGM. In any case, I have no clue why Somalis still practice it back home. It alone contributes to complications during child birth. I'd also classify this as sexual violence contributing to poor mental health and sexual health outcomes.

Somali fathers have NO CONTROL, I repeat NO CONTROL, over FGM. So many Somali husbands specifically tell their wives to not do FGM and the wife does it anyway because they don't see it as any of the father's business. Since the mother is non-Somali and the father has NO CONTROL at all, it is very likely that this little girl would be mutilated by her aunts or grandmother. They likely see it as their right to decide as the closest female relatives of the girl.

If I took my daughter back to Somalia, I would literally handcuff her to me. Do not trust your girls with family back home, they may take the initiative themselves and think they are doing you a favor.
