Yeah my great grandfather was severely injured by an elephant. I'm just sad they're no longer aroundIt was not the whole north but wetter areas betweeen Hargeisa and Borama, the British actually killed them for their ivory on hunting trips. Also the Somalis living there adopted agriculture and cut down the bush where the elephants lived. The closest they are now is in the Babile elephant sanctuary in Oromia, west of jigjiga.

I am working with the government and several NGOs to see if a sanctuary can be opened in Somaliland. Unfortunately it is very expensive to maintain so we need to find funding.Can the animals be returned there? I imagine an animal sanctuary/reserve wouldn't be that difficult to maintain
