I agree with this. I think it’s beyond just carelessness but more about power and control. They have no control over their lives so they’re going to Assert it in this way. It’s sad because STIs are rising in the somali community (just like every other community) and the polygamy lifestyle is what causes the majority of cases.

There is a lack of information around sexual health and women back home are at a disadvantage because they don’t have access to basic sexual health education. Contraception is discouraged and in many cases deemed ‘haram.’ Regular check ups, more info on sexual health and making informed choices would help combat these social/health issues. Men are selfish. Women need to look out for their own health and that of their children.
