I don’t have all the facts in hand, but I am sure our leaders made this decision based on the best interest for Somalia. Let us support them :)

Farmajo did the right thing here. Somalia should not challenge Ethiopia on transboundry rivers because all of our water comes from Ethiopia. We need to maintain Ethiopian goodwill on this issue because we will be negotiating with them in the future. Somalia owes Egypt no favors, we owe Sudan a lot, but Egypt can go to hell. I want Ethiopia to guarantee 80% flow for the Juba, nothing is worth putting that kind of agreement at risk.
Bro I agree with you but the government needs to invest in desalination plants and other forms of water and not wholly put Somalia under the mercy of Ethiopia. With that said, I agree that we need to work with our relationship with Ethiopia, we don't care about no Arabs, they would love to see Somalia f*ck up, even more so than Ethiopia/Kenya in my opinion.

Flow will probably increase as East Africa becomes wetter. Flow in the Juba has held steady and has slightly increased in the Shabelle. The dams in Ethiopia may even be a good thing because they reduce flood potential. Ethiopia cannot really use the Juba much as it is in steep valleys for over 95% of the distance in which it is in Ethiopia. They don’t use the river for much of anything. It will not be very difficult to come to terms with Ethiopia on the Juba’s flow.

Inb4 they use it up anyways somehow just to spite us.

I'm always of the mind that Somalia is an existential threat to the Ethiopian empire of today.

Would it be in their interest to allow us to irrigate thousands of more hectares which would contribute to our economy and in turn Somalia's stability?

Nope

Do you have a pinpoint location of where the dams are located or planned to be located?

No

Who cares about giving Ethiopia ports? If they guranteed 80% flow of the Juba, let them build a port anywhere in Jubaland. Would even waive all customs requirements and give them a 99 year lease on Buurgaabo.

why are these people believing Ethiopia will give somalia 80% flow? Why are we even subjugating ourselves to them for this? We get nothing in return. There is no contract signed for this legally Ethiopia can do whatever after the dam is built.

Ethiopia has *NEVER* helped Somalia and it never will.

The fact Ethiopia said the reason they never discussed or notified Somalia of this beforehand is because there is no government in Somalia. That’s the excuse they used. They said N&N is not a real government (they are right about that) that plus their thousands of non amisom Ethiopian troops in Somalia shows you just how little Ethiopia thinks of Somalia sovereignty.

80% they said:mjlaugh: keep dreaming. Why even beg for 80%? Egypt and Sudan are ready to go to war with Ethiopia over this, and this dam will effect Somalia way more than it will effect Egypt or Sudan. Meanwhile here we are conceding defeat and lining up in the begging line before the dam is even finished:ohlord:

I remember when Somaliland struck the Berbera deal with uae and Ethiopia and people were saying Ethiopia is going to take them over :dead:

I wonder where those same people are now as Ethiopia is slowly but surely annexing Somalia. They have two economic control over Somalis now. Khat + river water, and a big physical control with a standing army numbering around half of SNA numbers inside Somalia alone :damn:

The jig is up Somalia is being given to Ethiopia fully.

By splitting us apart.

That has been their main strategy since the Ogaden war when they started hosting most the rebel forces that tore Somalia apart.

You must love your country as much as you love urself or even more, that is what I am doing by not opposing every one of their moves. I want to clear the road of all obstacles so progress can move smoothly :)

Ethiopia literally diverting our rivers water for there own use and selling the hydropower to Kenya, and yet people are discussing about leasing land and giving them acess to the red sea?:faysalwtf:
why do somalis put so much trust into an Oromo apostate who torture his own people of his home village with our resources? why don't we helped the country who aided in the Ogaden war?

N&N is owned by Abiy now, thus N&N supporters on here are doing what’s expected of them. Siding with habash against others Somalis. And yes Somalia isn’t actually neutral in the matters it’s just that Ethiopia controls Somalia now. This whole issue is 100% completely against our interests how can we stay neutral unless the government is really controlled from Addis...

I see some people here are scared of Ethiopia and want to keep a good relationship with them even though Ethiopia is our clear #1 enemy. How can you keep a good relationship when they blatantly disrespected you multiple times during this fiasco. The first disrespect was not consulting with Somalia beforehand. It shows a total lack of respect for a neighbor. Then they said they didn’t consult with Somalia because there is no government in Somalia. Yep the same people with thousands of troops in our country don’t even think there’s an actual functioning government there meaning they don’t care about Somalia sovereignty any Somalia politician speaking with an Ethiopian politician must assume the position that Ethiopia is not acting in good faith, as they reject the legitimacy of your government. Now I hope people see why it was so easy for Ethiopia to enter into Berbera port deal with SL and UAE. They never cared about upsetting the rest of Somalia. They recognized there is not even an actual government in Somalia to counter the move so they went ahead with it.

LOL. Somalia is acting as a friend of Turkey in its vote to not side with Egypt on the dam issue. El Sisi and Erdogan are sworn enemies.

If you remember back in February the Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed agreed to cooperate with the Somali federal government reversing a long legacy of rivalry between Addis Ababa and Mogadishu. I believe Turkey played a role in that decision.
