I heard that during the Democratic period of Somalia (1960-69), mass corruption and voter rigging was commonplace. Is this true?

Absolutely. Hence why the Kacaan was welcomed by the masses. What happened during it's rule will be debated right or wrong. But it was welcomed by everybody at first, that's not in doubt. Only elitist clans that benefited from the pre Kacaan govt still calacaal.
But somehow Somalis says its Democratic (1960-1969), in the other hand 1969-1991 Dark age of Somalia. Today thanks to it we dont have function country.

If people really loved Democratic Somalia so much, there would have been a massive amount of opposition when the Kacaan took over, but the fact that it was so easy for Siad Barre to take over makes me think we overestimate the popularity of the SYL.
Voter rigging was not true. Democracy functioned fine during that period.
Corruption existed but was no where near as bad as the kacaan period where Siad Barre and his close affiliates ran the country like their own personal bank.

Kacaan accomplished more than the 60s government. If didn't. People wouldn't pine for it today. Was there wrongs, an objective person would say yes. But the govt of 1960-69 was useless. Couldn't even come up with a Somali script.
