Spinoff thread: Mother vs Wife treatment

I've heard of men who become super involved in household tasks when they get married but didn't even lift a finger in their mother's house.

Even when they visit their mother, they don't do any chores.

Are these men only invested in a woman's happiness if she is sleeping with them.

Ladies: Would you be concerned about being married to a man that did not/ does not help his mother around the house?

I would be, I would be concerned that he would start neglecting me once the novelty/honeymoon period ends.

I believe that the way a man treats his mother/sisters is indicative of how he will treat you.

When I visit my parents, my mother bans me to come near the kitchen or even stacking the dishes in the dishwasher.

When my siblings (brothers and sister) visit me, I shop and cook and they do the cleaning.

Blame the Somali mothers.

Absolutely.

I know a woman like this, she hates having people cook/clean her house.

However, there are many mothers who would love assistance around the house. Even asking your mother if she needs shopping/a ride would go a long way.

You’ve described me perfectly macaan, My hooyo treats me like a boqor I don’t do anything however when I get married things will change because I’m an extreme misogynist which means I need total control of everything. All of this effort simply because I’m tasting malab macaan oo lamooda inay samada ka soo dhacday.

I dont want to investigate a man's past but I would be concerned if he didnt help out his own mother.

He should know the basics in both cooking and cleaning. Like, what will happen if i die or get sick? He wont even be able to take care of himself let alone the kids

If I ever got married, the kitchen would be my personal space. I dont like it when people enter the kitchen while I'm cooking or cleaning.

As for, contacting his mother, in my opinion he should call/meet his mother everyday(if he is able to).

Very concerning.

A man that fears basic household duties can easily neglect the kids if you die. I don't trust men that are scared/lazy to do household/paternal duties.

My husband cooks and cleans at our house, he’s not the best of cook so I do majority of it. He hasn’t lived at home since he was 18 and is used to cleaning and cooking for himself, however growing up he never cooked as his mom and sisters won’t allow him near the kitchen.

My brothers clean but got forbid you ask them to cook they will burn the house down, my younger brother actually burned the kitchen while he was making tuna once :snoop:the kid put his headphones on and went to go play video game while the pot was on the stove.
