Somalis regarded as Arabs in the 1841 Aden population census

You lack reading comprehension. I acknowledge your first assertion about the Reer Isaaq presence in Aden. That point is plausible due to geographical proximity and the strong trade ties between both coastal towns. My main issue with you is your false assertion that Somali merchants of Isaaq and Darood ancestry were the majority in Aden. That is not the case. My grandmother was raised in Aden for most of her childhood. There was a strong presence of the Bandairi community in Yemen, particularly Sanaa and Aden. Benadiris did identify as Somali when inquired about their country of origin and nationality by Yemenis. There was a strong presence of the Ashraf clan in Aden.
Your grandmother isn’t proof enough. Most Somalis that live in the Arab world till this day and actually have the passports are usually Reer Isaaq and Dhulbahante and MJs. MJs and Dhulbahante literally live in Salaala in Oman as natives and I’m someone who has travelled to every Khaleeji country and lived in two. Most of the Somalis that have had a very long presence to such as extend they have passports due to living there Pre-1960s are all Northern Somalis, who are Isaaq, MJ especially in Oman and Dhulbahante and some Warsengelis. This isn’t even up for debate as historical books attest to this and even if you look at Arab Khaleeji countries in todays modern world. It’s Northerners with the strong presence with passports and I’ve met a few with passports. All Isaaq and Northern Darood.

The post is clearly talking about Northern Somalis. Their are no Reer Xamaris there. Also, a good % of Reer Xamaris are of Persian and Pakistani stock as DNA testing illustrates.

That was a terrible attempt at trolling btw. Anyone that knows anything about Somalis and their history in the Arab world will tell you, Northerners who are all ethnic Somalis had a strong presence in the Arabic world in the 18th century and till this day, most Somali expats in the Arab world are indeed mostly Northern. Most Somalis with UAE, Saudi and the like passports are all mostly…..Northern. Not Reer Xamaris.
True and I am not denying that. As I mentioned before, certain somali clans from the north did have a strong presence in Aden, mainly the Isaaq clan. Due to geographical proximity, Berbera and Aden had strong trade. My main point is that the Ashraf and Banu Qahtan had a significantly higher presence in Aden compared to the Northern clans. I am not immune from committing mistakes and errors. I am willing to retract my statements. I appreciate your respectful response 🙏

Can you show me proof? I’m not denying this since I can’t really know for certain it’s just that I haven’t ever read this and I’ve never really seen a lot of Reer Xamaris in the Arab world with a lot of history of being here as much as I’ve seen Northern Daroods and Isaaqs. I mean in Oman alone I saw Arabs with Darood lineage. That’s how long they’ve been there?

Very fair points. I know many close Isaaq friends who reside in Dubai and they dominate the business sector. Even before the state collapse, many Somalis lived and worked in the UAE. They mainly hailed from the Isaaq clan. I appreciate your informative insight. Jazakallahu khair.

He said that because it made it harder to precisely pinpoint the Somali population in Aden since we were conflated with the ethnic Yemeni population. In later censuses Yemenis (natives) and Somalis (outsiders) were counted separately.
Basically we’re both Arabs

Yemenis are the native Arabs

And Somalis are immigrant Arabs

In addition, at one point Somalis made up almost 20% of the population of the city. We have had massive influence in Yemen for the past 300 years that is overlooked not only by foreigners but by Somalis as well

What happen to the women population from 1000 to 620? Child birth deaths?

Most reer xamar and ashraf moved to Kenya and Tanzania during the civil war. Prior to the Civil War, many clans from the Benadir coast would regularly travel and settle in Yemen. There was a strong presence of benadiri clans hailing from the banu qathan, Ashraf and Reer Xamar clans in Aden. The presence of the Benadiri community in the gulf countries and other parts of the Arab world is very minimal. It's mostly hawiye, darood and Isaaq that reside in the gulf countries and do business there. I will post the source once I find it. Jazakallahu khair for your insightful and intellectual insight. I appreciate it.

Yes, same with Northern Daroods. I know Warsengili and Dhulbahantes whose grandfathers were born in the Yemen and the Khaleeji, but their fathers would send them back to the Meey at times so they don’t lose touch of their Somali origins. I even had a conversation about it with an old Northern Darood man who was like in his late 80s. Fascinating stuff. I reckon Northerners were going through famine or something, since you hardly ever see Southerners moving to the Arab world during that time period and before.

Your grandmother was raised in Gondar and never met a Benadiri in her life 😂😂😂

May Allah forgive you for speaking about my grandmother like that. Please don't bring family into this conversation. May Allah truly forgive and not punish you.
He is wrong for insulting your grandmother like that. My grandmother is also from Aden, a native of Yafa’i descent. She married my grandfather a Somali man.

I’m gonna entertain your xaarposting just this once. Benadiris didn’t even identify as Somali a decade ago.

I am not anti-Somali. Fear Allah and stop assassinating my character. I know Sacad Muse would travel from Berbera to Aden for trade and Islamic knowledge. That claim is plausible due to the geographical proximity between both coastal towns. But the extent of Somali presence, particularly from the nomadic clans you are asserting in Yemen, is overexaggerated and taken out of context. The overwhelming majority of clans that had a strong presence in Yemen hailed from the reer xamar, ashraf and Banu Qahtan clans. The banadiri community has always had strong cultural, religious and trade ties with Yemen since antiquity. You need to put things into context.
Banadiris had religious and trade ties with yemen since antiquity?! 😂
Wallahi you're a retard
Share sources next time, banadiri identity didn't even exist "since antiquity", Also the known sailors of Banaadiris Are Reer maanyo gibil madow not gibil cad

You clearly have an agenda and are trying to push this Arab superiority. We don't care about Arabs. all your posts are all about Arabs.

How are current Somalis Arabs when they can't comeup with single useful Arabic sentence? HSM already alongside Farmajo embarrassed us in Arab world stage where they had to converse with their Arab counterparts in English 😒
