Poetry, Philosophy, and Diplomacy is definitely in 80% of Somali genes because we are nomadic and travel and therefore see lots of differences. As the old saying goes, one who travels isn't the same as one who doesn't. Our diplomacy should be one of the highest order because we needed to get along with the differences we encountered in the past and our ancestors passed this gene onto us but we seem not to use it anymore because we were infected with colonial ideas that are still around today and just passed on.
Every idea u hear a Somali talks about today descends from the colonial era like somalinimo, democracy, and god knows what else. Just pay close attention to Somali values and trace root it where it came from, besides Islam and our unique nomadic culture, most things are still colonial structures, philosophy in Somalia today. Even how we run our government is colonial based structures, look at the government structure and order, vastly different to our nomadic structure when you go to rural badiyo among the nomads who sit under a tree.
There is essentially a clan elder who is the boss but he is elected thru nomadic mechanism which I don't know how it's done as I haven't really travelled to observe it. However the way things are selected in Somalia today is definitely colonial and we will find more problems like we did in the past when we tried the colonial system. Colonial system conflicts with our culture and structures. We are essentially free spirits and don't like someone bossing us around. That's why most drive taxis in the west and hate having managers ma garatay niyahow? it's in our blood this.
That's why I just do consultancy and contracting in my IT role now, we don't want a manager, we are own managers ma garatay? make sure u do the same in your careers somaliyay, just find roles that allow u to travel and be free regardless if it's medicine become medicine contractor ma garatay? just observe the structure and if u see management structure RUN FROM IT SOMALIYAY ITS AGAINST YOUR BLOOD OF SITTING UNDER A TREE.
