Our people are unique in letting others live well in our territory. Waqooyi Galbeed is the only place in the Somali world where someone of any tribe can own things and not worry. Go watch the pictures and videos of Farmaajo's tour in Puntland and count the number of flags south west state. I am not saying that MJs are not hospitable. What I am saying is that the most expensive hotel in Hargeisa was built recently by an MJ guy, and during all of this Puntland issue there is no talk against him or his property. Even if we were at war, no one would touch his property in Hargeisa, and I doubt the same goes for any other region. To be honest, this is not even the case in the whole of Somaliland.
i guess its because i still believe we can work out our problems. but time is ticking, and people aren't doing anything really helpful. Every day that goes by one more lander is born, and that kid wont know about something called "somalia".

If Somaliland joins the union we would be the swing block, and that would mean one of the major groups would lose out. They don't actually want union. They don't actually want to share their money. The way it works now is better for them all. They don't want us to be independent or fully in, this limbo suits them. If we came fully in, it would probably be to make a powersharing arrangement with former USC, which would lead to more war.

It doesn't have research capacity on the ground. It is not capable of making effective evaluations. Effective statistics and research findings require a strong centralised power, something absent from all parts of Somalia & Somaliland.
