I must bite my tongue and say he is correct, politics in Puntland is very vicious and goes to deep levels. I mean just the discussions between Puntlanders on somalispot in comparison to other clan should tell you a-lot and the level of depth our discussions goes too!!!! Infact it's even worse with our seniors and elders who take it a-lot further.

The thing about Puntland is, you won't even know he is tricking you because they use diplomacy really well and understand how to influence you. It's not similar to 'fadhi ku dirirs' of other clans which is just 'my clan karbashed your clan'.

How are you saying PL has more vibrant politics were it essentially is a clan dictatorship where no opposition is allowed and everyone has to tow the party line.

Nah, full blooded HY reer Burco my folks are heavily invested in WADANI & Cirro the last election and this coming one, we're working in our flawed system to register new electoral districts to get more MPs in Parliament and local councils.

But I'm not about that, there needs to be something fresh new and dynamic to reset & reform Somaliland to ensure that every region gets an equal share.

Secondly, I am not saying Puntland system is perfect but I love how it's traditional and answers local needs(not perfectly, some clans complain) but the majority of clans-men are satisfied. I don't support democracy for Somalia as it's not suitable for our people who are tribal and will only foster competition and competition is not what tribes need, they need a system that fosters cooperation.

You need to first stabilize the tribes, educate them, develop their economy before you transition them to an individual democracy. You can't take them from 'poor, 3rd world jahil to democracy over night' life simply doesn't work like that.

Democracy requires 'free thinking and independent thought' and you can't free think when your poor and will always think through the 'collective or group mind-set'. The only reason your free thinking today is because you have 'wealth' and can support yourself plus you been educated.

The Somali at home simply hasn't gone through the same process you did, he is poor(no wealth) and he is un-educated, democracy cannot flourish in such 'environment', no matter what you do or how many fake elections you hold. Do you honestly think someone who has no job, no income, barely educated will form 'independent thought'? it's ludicurous, Democracy isn't even suitable for all Africa let alone Somalia.

That's how they penetrate usually through migration, go read their history, then they settle with you, then they outbreed you and finally you become another dire dawa and they claim the land as majority. They know their strength is their numbers and they shape their politics around this by swallowing up neighbouring groups. You should always support a Somali barber even it's bad and boycott the oromos so they go home and find no benefit to stay in hargeisa.

not gonna happen, its 2018 this way of thinking is ancient and very far right. People just wanna live their lives for however many long and feed their families. politics is not really on the mind of people only during election time, when non ethnically somalis register as a candidate or party in elections than you may say something but i would welcome it just look at western democracies.

I agree. Puntland politics is far more intense and militarilised than other administrations. Historically veterans like AY, former commander of the armed forces Gen. Muhammed Abshir, and former PM Abdirizaq Haji Hussein were vying for the leadership of the northeast. Compare facing such rivals to what other administrations faced. No other region had former heavyweights facing each other.
