Somalia was destined to fail even before independence

Even if East Asians lived in Somalia, it would still be a shithole. We have the worst land in Sub Saharan Africa.

As for Bantus and Nilotics, allahu calam.

This is Burundi:

Burundi_sat.png

90 % arable land(pure volcanic soil, possibly the best land in the world), no malaria, moderate weather, an endless supply of fresh water in Lake Tanganyika(18 % of freshwater in the world) and a 10 million population. Yet a GDP of 3 billion which is less than half of Somalia.

@Amun imagine if Somalis had this land?

Do you think the Illuminati orchestrated the Tutsi genocide just to see what humans are capable of?

Our land isn’t terrible, more somalis need to practice agropastoralism and plant more trees, when we cut down trees (more trees help increase rainfall when the leaves release moisture up in the sky) and have geels eating all the grass (causing soil erosion) it’ll have detrimental effects to the environment, the best way to fix our soil is by adding biochar into the soil mixed in with some compost and manure to improve soil fertility, a better long lasting technique is terra preta (combination of biochar, crushed animal bones and manure) it’s been practiced by native indians in the amazon, it’ll obviously take some time and money buying all these key ingredients and spread it throughout the barren parts of the country but it’s possible

The reason why Somalia is a semi-desert is because of the Ethiopian highlands. Planting trees won't change that.

It would look a bit greener like the Australian outback rather than full desert like it is becoming now due to overgrazing.
Here is some private land in Dharoor, Bari that Puntland nationalized.

That's how a semi-desert looks like without the overgrazing.

Probably even better considering the fact that Bari receives the least rainfall in Somalia.

I bet the only reason why Somalis have no to low Omotic ancestry relative to Ethiopians is because nobody lived in the Somali parts of the Horn. Only with goats and camels did that area become populated.

Nah, you can see with all of the cave paintings in Northern Somalia that cows were the main grazing animal. I think that camels were only introduced into the Horn quite recently. Less than 2000 years ago.

Those cave paintings were likely drawn by Cushitic invaders with agro-pastoral technology. Not by Omotic / Mota-type hunter-gatherers.

Basically nobody lived in Somalia for 70,000 years until people showed up with goats and camels.

Why didn't South Arabians settle in Somalia then?

Somalia is the only country located in the equator that is a semi-desert. All other equatorial countries are hot and very wet. The Ethiopian highlands are blocking the moisture from reaching the Somali lowlands.
Planting more trees will help produce more of the moisture, if we do that we won’t need the moisture that the ethiopian highlands are blocking

It’s a merciless climate in the north, it’s barren and ravaged by droughts.

Most importantly overpopulation. Birth rate is very high while the recourses and jobs are scarce.

Because we're one of the most resource poor countries in the world. Certainly in Sub Saharan Africa. We simply lacked the natural resources needed to run a modern state.

Other than an ocean, which is all desert north of Mogadishu, and two medium sized rivers that are dammed by Ethiopia, Somalia doesn't have anything. Now combine that with one of the highest birth rates in the world. Somalia is just a disaster waiting to happen. The international community will eventually get tired of raising money for famine year after year.

What is this weak mentality the diaspora somalis have, glad to see somalis in somalia are not like this.
Sand can easily be turned into soil, by making a paste made up by plant cellulose, when added to sand it helps it retain water and air. within 8 months you could transform at least 300 hectares into fertile soil.
As far as the economical and political situation, balkanization is the answer at the moment, every deegan/ "land" focuses on their region.

Again you're speaking out of your ass. Somali has arid lands because of nomadism and overgrazing which were cutting down our trees and taking all the grass without re-planting shit which is why it destroyed our environment but our dry soil is not sand though.

The areas that are arid have a degraded soil issue which can easily be fixed with investing more into agriculture and teaching the nomads to practice agro-pastoralism and also, Somalis got to stop cutting down the trees as trees help with the water supply by creating rain clouds and keeps the soil moistured and fertile.

I mean look how China is converting western China (Desert lands) into fertile lands where agriculture can take place.

Ikr. This defeatist mentality is a disease that some diaspora kids have. These types don’t even consider improving the situation because they've made they're minds up that its an unfixable shithole.
There are solutions to all this and many countries have proved this. There are many Somali diaspora and even yemeni refugees who are successfully farming in waqooyi.
Somalia's soil is semi arid, its not a desert like the Gulf.

The thing is sxb our semi-arid soil can easily be converted into a rich fertile soil with a simple modern irrigation system.

Take it for examle a Garre man from Mandera planted over one thousand coconut tree where he turned a massive land scape of arid land into fertile farmlands.

@Prince of Lasanod
It has been observed that the Southwest Monsoon system of Asia has a significant role in reducing the amount rainfall in Eastern Africa, even though whatever rain occurs here is owing to the monsoons.

Most of the onshore winds that should have blown over Eastern Africa get diverted to the low pressure belts of the monsoon system thereby decreasing the rainfall.

Somalia is one of the most resourceful countries in the world, f*ck you talking about? Somalia has no deserts but dry arid soil which can easily be fixed by modern-day irrigation and we have plenty arable land but the problem is it's not cultivated because of lack of money and stability. We have proven to have large reserves of water but the problem is we cannot block and save the seasonal rivers and rain water since it eventually ends up in the ocean but we have proven large water reserves underground and in the mountains. If Somalia were rich, we'd save up so much water and start giving waters to our neighbors. Ethiopia cannot block our rivers or the international community would sanction them and it's illegal to do that but what we can do is expand our river by using the Indian rejuvenated method and even make Nugaal river permanent from Sheikh mountain to Eyl which could end Somaliland and Puntland dispute.
Ignore him some ppl are ignorant to the fact that the unintelligent elders ruined the country not us the youth who will eventually rebuild it using our education. Stop judging the country based on the older generations mistake, yes we are years behind other countries now but we will catch up inshallah!!! all we need to do is devise a plan to implement law and order and to use up the resources that we have available. What made you sure we had no resources? who conducted this survey that states we have no resources? also water can be found underground in every country on earth.
