You start with your house, then your neighbors, then your street, then your village, then your city, then your nation and then the wider Ummah. Charity truly starts at home. A man that is not in control of his own home, cannot help others and nor will others respect his help. Hence, i'm all for Somalis prioritizing Somalis and Somalia.
However, calling 'my Ummah' an ideology that you can dismiss is dangerous. This is what our Prophet s.a.w says so it isn't even something us Somalis who are Muslim should be debating. Lets not complicate matters. As Somalis we should put our nation first, why? Because we're no use to the wider Ummah if we don't prioritize ourselves and I think every Muslim should try to fix their homeland first and foremost before and only then can we help each other.
