Let’s face it Somali families should take their responsibility if a person is mentally ill in your family than turn him in or make sure he gets treated

They should have a person who works with mentally ill people visit the Somali community and have a seminar about it spread awareness

What a shame! Somalis are the most hate filled people on earth when it comes to tribal bigotry. This has already became a tribal point scoring. Homes of specific members of a clan were raided this morning from "tips from the Somali community" and nothing was found. They should charge those who tipped them with false reporting.

Every terrorist says, I’ve been approached by the Feds for cred stakes. His brother’s passport was cancelled in 2015 before Ali came into the picture. I feel sorry for his dad who did everything possible to raise them in a better environment.

These people should have been tested in a half-way country before bringing them to live in the west. In trying to save them from themselves they are plucked from a wild desert existence and deposited among civilized people and this is the result. They should have been made to live in another developing country first...let them adapt and evolve and prove themselves as worthy of living among civilized people first.

Its too late for many of these countries now as the hordes have been released to run wild . The europeans have willingly committed suicide.

Bourke Street attacker: Hassan Khalif Shire Ali 'delusional, agitated' before deadly rampage.

Hassan Khalif Shire Ali believed he was being chased by "unseen people with spears" as he grew increasingly agitated and delusional in the weeks before he went on a deadly knife rampage in Bourke Street.

The radicalised Somali-Australian was living in a converted garage hidden behind a house in Melbourne's north with his wife and young son as he planned to set fire to his ute and create a deadly explosion that would spread shrapnel at least 100 metres in the CBD.

Sources close to the family of Shire Ali, 30, say he had a troubled relationship with family and his life had "spun out of control" in recent years, as he grappled with mental health issues and substance abuse.

On Friday afternoon, Shire Ali drove his ute - filled with gas cylinders - into the middle of Melbourne's CBD, before setting the vehicle alight and going on a stabbing rampage which killed much-loved restaurant owner Sisto Malaspina and severely injured two others, and assaulted police officers.

Prior to the attack, Shire Ali was living with his family at the back of a home in Meadow Heights, which was raided by federal and forensic police on Saturday.

Initial police investigations suggest he planned to use his ute to hit pedestrians, and possibly smash into a shop to kill those inside.

He had planned to set the car on fire and ignite three gas bottles in the rear tray, creating a deadly fireball that would create chaos in the CBD, before he died at the hands of police. However, the gas bottles didn't explode and the plan went awry.

One neighbour said Shire Ali had moved in about a year ago with his wife and young son.
Almost 50 kilometres away, his parents home, a modest brick house on a quiet street in Werribee in the city's west, was also raided in the early hours of Saturday by police for more than 12 hours.

The family was originally from Somalia and moved to Australia in the 1980s.

It's understood Shire Ali had three brothers and two sisters who attended the Al-Taqwa Islamic College in Truganina. All are believed to have grown up in the family's home in Werribee.

But Isse Musse, an imam and a friend of Shire Ali's family, said Hassan had broken with Somali tradition by moving out of the family home before he was married, raising concern among his family.

They were hopeful his "situation would improve" after he married, but the imam said in recent weeks Shire Ali had given them fresh cause for alarm.

"[He was] complaining he was being chased by unseen people with spears," Imam Musse said. "They don't know if he's taking drugs or what."

He said Shire Ali had become more and more "deluded".

"If a person is Muslim and has a mental health problem, then Islam will be one of the things they may speak," Imam Musse said.

Another source close to the family said Shire Ali had mental health and substance abuse issues and was kicked out of the family home on numerous occasions.

“He had a difficult time in his life the last couple of years and spun out of control,” said the source.

Meadow Heights neighbours recalled seeing Shire Ali "storm out" of the property less than a week ago with his wife in pursuit.

“He appeared agitated,” one neighbour told The Age.

While it was known he held radicalised views, federal police didn't believe he posed a serious threat, and revealed he was not being actively monitored at the time of the attack.

Authorities, however, had cancelled his passport in 2015 when ASIO received information he was planning to travel to Syria.

Imam Musse described Shire Ali's family as "very decent" and said they worshipped at the Virgin Mary Mosque in Hoppers Crossing.

But the spiritual leader said Shire Ali himself had not visited the mosque for decades.

"[He came] many years ago [to the mosque], when he was 11 years old or so," the imam said. "He hasn't been coming for many years."

Neighbours who live near the Werribee home said the Shire Ali family had lived there for more than 30 years.

One woman said she believed the parents, a daughter and a son still lived at the house.

Shire Ali and other family members would often visit, she said.

“There was always cars coming and going,” she said. “They were always very smartly dressed and seemed to be polite and educated people. I’d often see the father and would wave to him across the street but they mostly kept to themselves.”

Neighbours remembered Hassan and his siblings riding down the street on their bikes as children.

“They were always playing in the street and laughing ... [he seemed like] just an ordinary kid," one long-time neighbour said. "[They were all] very well-mannered kids.”

On Saturday, as investigators searched the family home, carloads of distressed relatives arrived at the house only to be turned away by heavily armed police guarding the driveway.

Family friends say those close to Shire Ali are devastated by Friday's attack.

“I’ve known [his father] for 30 years, he is a kind and respected man in the Somali community,” one said. “I came here today because I know he is so upset about what has happened.”

Imam Musse said the family were in "shock, unbelievable shock".

"They shared the pain of the victim - that victim had a family too ... the two families are sharing in the grief and pain," he said.

Just before 2pm, a young man, believed to be a relative of Shire Ali, came out of the house with his face hidden beneath a grey hooded jumper.

He quickly got into a silver car parked in the driveway and sped off.

As police packed and left, the blinds of the house remained drawn.

Isse Musse, a former imam a Werribee mosque, said Shire Ali had become "more and more deluded".

Kudos to this blind Imam. He should lead the Somali community in Australia.

He Named his mosque 'Virgin Mary' and here he is defending why he gave the mosque a female name and the catholic name of Maryam.

How does one embarrass their family like that? he must have had some kind of mental health. On the other hand he's going to hell...suicide by hell is still suicide. I don't know why these idiots think their going to get houris for causing disruption to society and getting shot by cops.
