Her parents fled for their lives from the civil war spending miserable months/years in refugee camps sacrificing everything in raising her in order to give her a better future in life which they themselves were never given had the chance for.

Perhaps with that better future they hoped that one day she could perhaps contribute to her people and nation for their betterment.

Who would have thought that not only would she fail in all of her assignments in miserable shameful fashion, but she would even go on to loose her own culture while becoming the spokesperson for another.
